t0fler
After about 3 years of use my NHF800 has had its first real issue, just wondering if it can be fixed. The slider on top of the unit is no longer moving the metal catch inside the player that opens the face. The metal catch is jammed and will not move, it is permanently in the open position, so it will no longer stay shut. If i press the sides together it still works, so for now i guess ill just duct tape it shut and keep one disc in. Any suggestions how to get the metal catch moving again? Syrius
You know, I just realized that non-closing unit would be PERFECT for TOC cloning and saving accidentally erased SP-discs.

Any suggestions how to get the metal catch moving again?I had a problem with the latch on my first MZ-RH10. Less than a year after I bought it (within the warranty period), it became very difficult to open the unit to insert or eject a disc. Sony replaced the unit with a refurbished unit and this second unit has been working fine ever since I got it (knock on wood), although I haven't used it much at all the past 6 months. I had to pay for postage to send the defective unit to Sony, but that was my only cost.I know this isn't going to help you fix your problem (you're out of warranty), but I wanted to let you know that other units experience latch/cover issues as well. Hope you can get yours fixed.
raintheory
if you are so inclined you could disassemble the unit to find the mechanism and see what the holdup is there./.. the service manual should be in the downloads section here in the forums, and shows exploded views you can use to find how to disassemble.
