Sharp 821

Hi,

I just found this forum whilst tyring to locate info on my faulty MD. Perhaps you can help?

I have a Sharp 821 which up until the other day hasn't missed a beat but is now giving error messages UTOC ERROR and TOC ERRORa.

I don't have the manuals any more so I don't even know what the messages mean.

Is it fixable, by me - I am technically competent and work with electronics from time to time or does it need expert help or do I bin it and go Mp3.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the read head is going o the driver , Just for fun you try and find another 821 for parts and replace the head , ( it would certainly test your skill )

Does sound like a head problem, but you can also try removong the battery for a while, and reinserting, also, try another disc, it is rare, but sometimes discs go flaky,

Don't give up om MD yet,

That was a common issue with those older Sharp units, looks like it's done.
