How much quality / quantity do we really need for live recording?

I will just add , that it depends on the gear I am recording with . Each piece of gear has a different quality to it , a Good Pro tape deck like the TC-D5m

it is worth it to limit the length of time in exchange for quality of sound , IE tape being 45 min per side at MOST for 90min tapes( never use 120's )

but I have a small stockpile of Metal 54 , 60, 46, 70 minute tapes all type 4 , I need some 90's if anyone has any ( unused would be nice , they are impossible to find ( I can get type2 Cr2O2 's ) just looking for Metal type 4's
