Dan984
Hi,I am new to this forum. If this has been already answered, please kindly provide a pointer to where I can find the information.I am an IPOD 60GB user with Itune, but I am planning to get a mz-rh1 which claims to have the less limitation on copy files to and from my PC.Later, I am planning to transfer my music files, encoded in AAC variable rate in 192kbps ripped directly from many CDs, to a brand-new mz-rh1, when I get it.How do I do this? I am looking for a simple and easy way without too many hoops & jumps. Is the SonicStage 3.4 (the new version for mz-rh1?) the only way? Does SonicStage 3.4 understand AAC codec? Or do I need rip my CDs again to MP3 or something else Sonic Stage 3.4 understands? Also, with the new mz-rh1, can I just drag & drop any mp3 files directly to the recorder, without using the sonic stage to transfer the files, from the windows explorer?Thank you very much.Dan
JSP62
Hi,I am new to this forum. If this has been already answered, please kindly provide a pointer to where I can find the information.Welcome to the site, please be sure to take moment and use the search function for possible matches to your topic. I am an IPOD 60GB user with Itune, but I am planning to get a mz-rh1 which claims to have the less limitation on copy files to and from my PC.Sorry to hear your a iPoo user, but glad to know that your making the switch from the masses FYI, not sure if you heard of ipodcopy. It can allow you to copy from your unit to your PC/MAC breaking the DRM. Though I am not sure if it converts to different formats or not, you'll have to research that. Later, I am planning to transfer my music files, encoded in AAC variable rate in 192kbps ripped directly from many CDs, to a brand-new mz-rh1, when I get it.I do not think you can transfer in AAC format. AAC is Apple's format, and I doubt Sony wants someone else's format on their units...wouldn't you agree? You would have to start over again with your CDs. Unless you find out about formats on the ipodcopy software I mentioned above. If it does not then your stuck with doing it 'all over' . If this you do this be sure to rip your music into MP3 format. I say this because we have a developer who created GYM (Get Your Music), which was made by a person who was unhappy with Sonic Stage. If you read in the forums you shall quickly learn the benefits of GYM. That being, able to copy tracks to other computers breaking the DRM. Also, with the new mz-rh1, can I just drag & drop any mp3 files directly to the recorder, without using the sonic stage to transfer the files, from the windows explorer? Can't drag and drop, you gotta use SS. Some use a program called "Vaio Music Transfer". I understand it works with other DAPs (Digital Audio Player) and not just the Sony Vaio Pocket.Good luck and let us know if you need more info, but be sure to search first or you could get flamed.Again welcome to the community. Guest Stuge
Hey ,Dan ..I will suggest you to see http://forums.minidisc .orgas this query is related to minidisc Equipment Also RH1 will not play AAC files .It is only compatible with Mp3 & Atrac. Also SonicStage doesn`t understands AAc file format .You can convert your AC files to MP3 using I-tunes hten you can transfer those files to SonicStage ver3.
Richard
You can convert your AC files to MP3 using I-tunes hten you can transfer those files to SonicStage ver3.4But to get the best possibly quality out of the RH1's HD Amp I would suggest re-ripping the CD's to Atrac. AAC transcoded to MP3 is going to be not optimal.

ad2006
Have you noticed that the PSP can now support AAC-this is a good sign. I'm hoping that we get a firmware upgrade so more sony stuff gets this. Why dont you convert AAC-WAV-atrac using DB poweramp-which you can download for free. Wave is a direct convert-I dont think you lose any quality
