STR DH700 cable problem

I just purchased an STR-DH700 receiver and am installing it. I got it specifically to be able to run all hdmi through the receiver. I have connected my Charter digital HD box via HDMI to the receiver. I have also connected my Sony blu-ray player to the receiver via HDMI. I have also connected the 'out' HDMI to my Bravia HDTV (to HDMI 1 in). The blu-ray works perfectly. However, the cable signal is not making through to the tv. I know the cable box is working, as I just took the same cable and connected directly to the tv. What appears to be happening is the signal is very intermittent, practically non-existent but making an attempt to connect. If I have missed a step, can anyone please advise? Thanks!!!!

I am having the same problem. When the problem occurs the box is continually switching between 1080i and 720P modes. I can usually make it stop by turning the cable box off and back on but this gets very annoying. Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.

I am also having the same problem. This seems like a pretty bad malfunction with this model...

I don't have any of the equipment you mention, but any switching may be occurring when signal drops (which is not so unlikely from cable/box). Have you tried looking at the TV manual to set it on some setting rather than "Auto" which I assume tries to cycle through different possible resolutions whenever it connects?

One way to isolate this would be to establish a non-HDMI connection. I don't trust HDMI to give me the best picture anyway, I recommend you invest in a set of component video cables and you may be surprised.

In addition you might want to look at the AUTO function described on page 88. Could this be what is occurring, a switch between digital and analog signals?
