It appears that the elusive Sony NWZ-S740 series Walkman has been on sale in various Asia Pacific markets, including Hong Kong. Availability varies, and judging by past releases, the most advanced S-Series Walkman will slowly trickle out to other countries in that region eventually. It doesn’t seem to have the lyric service like the Japanese model, but does retain all of the other incredible features such as noise cancelling technology, FM, TV Out (at SD), 42 hour battery life for audio, 10 hours for video, and more. Reception to the product announcement was very strong back on September 16th, but also was confusing to consumers because of a limited Japanese debut. With the product now available in in more countries, can we assume it won’t be too much longer before it comes to the USA and Europe?

The S740 Series also have Clear bass, Clear Stereo, and DSEE to color your sound. I like several of these features and usually enable them. Colors available to Asia Pacific include just the black model – which is a far cry from the gold, green, violet models available in Japan. Not sure if any of the other colors will be available, which is sad because the green is pretty neat.

On a side note, will we ever see the latest A Series Walkman outside of Japan? I have heard some rumblings that it may be so. Stay tuned.

The menus are in full english.

The interface is identical to the X Series walkman, which includes cover flow like album art by pressing up and down on the now playing screen.

And scene preview for videos by pressing right and left.

I enjoyed pressing up and down for direct access to artist album genre on my s618 so i think il stick with that, and wait for android or something better coming on the horizon.

Come on fm transmitter!

I believe it'll be released here in Australia (according to a PDF of the "PULSE" catalog)-although haven't seen it for sale yet (was supposed to be out this month).

Noticed the packaging is getting smaller compared to previous models.

Hi!

Can you customize the background, themes, colors?

SQ... compared to Sony A729, Sony X-series, Sansa Fuze/clip, Cowon i9?

Sounds it better than the cheap-feeling S545?

Thanks for the answers, they are very importent to me.

it can do everything the x-series can do but doesnt have s master amp.

Can change background and themes

SQ is comparable to the X-Series

THANKS! :) :)

So i can set one of my photos as background?

The difference between the A840 and S740 in SQ only the S-master. How much does it matter? I don't care the OLED bigger screen.

The only question is: Does have the Cowon i9 or the Sansa Fuze better SQ?

Is the X-series SQ much better?

I'm using a Klipsch S4.

An UI video would be nice somewhere.. :D
