cool-runnin
I have a MZ-RH1 that will run when used with the charger, but not with the battery alone. A new battery was purchased from China, but that did not work. It works perfectly, record and playback, when hooked up to the charger, and both batteries show > 3.7 V on my VOM, so they should be charged, but I can't get it to work on just battery power alone. Could be I'm doing something stupid, but I can't figure out what.
sfbp
Have you tried leaving it OFF with no battery overnight? Sometimes settings get reset this way. There are more drastic remedies like recalibrating the battery charging circuits, but that is a pain and requires a regulated power supply (which I don't have). md user
Some of the obvious ... [sorry don't have an RH1, but in general: ] Battery connectors inside unit OK? Corroded? Bent? Power socket ON UNIT ok? (i.e. usually has a switchover connection, can get bent). If able and necessary, connect psu unit to battery connectors inside unit to prove battery compartment - requires insulated wires and CORRECT voltage/current rating. - AT YOUR OWN RISK. Else, prove with known functioning battery/unit for comparison (if you know someone &c.) Oh well, that's a start! mdmad
cool-runnin
The battery out overnight did not solve it, thx
sfbp
Perhaps you can do a controlled DIScharge of the battery. However I am not really qualified to speak on this topic, you need to google it and figure out how - I am thinking a relatively high wattage resistor (to absorb some heat) might do it. My daughter had a recent similar problem with her cell phone. It fixed itself when she spilled liquid on it LOL. Good luck. (PS you should read up on LiIon batteries, completely discharged batteries will not be recognised either by the RH1).
cool-runnin
Thx for the quick replies, the issue is now been solved, don't ask don't tell, user error!
sfbp
I didn't think it is possible to insert the battery the wrong way
md user
I didn't think it is possible to insert the battery the wrong way Or to fail to disconnect the psu first ...
md user
Perhaps you can do a controlled DIScharge .... . It fixed itself when she spilled liquid on it LOL. Is that an OFFICIAL battery re-juvenation technique? And there's me thinking that only 'Murphy's Law' applies .... [This technique has 'lost' two of my phones already ...] There is hope, then!
