Date & Time information needed in Sonic Stage

Several models of MD recorders have a clock with current date and time set up by the user. The original recording date and time is stored with the original file.

Is there a version of Sonic Stage that will display this original date and time?

So far I have not been able to find this in my Sonic Stage ( ver. 4.3.01.14050 ). While the original file has this information, it does not appear to be transferred to the PC.

I use Sonic Stage to download files from a Walkman MZRH1 to my PC (XP Pro).

I think the #linux-minidisc application QHiMDTransfer does it correctly. However we found there are numerous models where the date returned is garbage. Sony probably decided to ignore it. What you **will** see is that tracks sometimes have a date in them if uploaded without titling, from the units that support date/time. However I don't recall whether it is the time of upload or the time of recording that finds its way into SS, not having done it for a while.

(Sorry to be picky, but there exists terminal confusion over what is "up" and generally we refer to "up" being TO the PC).

No idea what you want to do, but hope this was helpful.

What I want to do - is avoid manually entering this original date information after I transfer the file to the computer. It does show the date/time of the transfer OK. As things stand now I have to disconnect the MZRH1 from the USB connection to the computer. I power it with the battery and read the date / time of the original recording. I then edit the title (or other info field) with this information, typing it in manually.

Yes, I understand 'upload' or 'up' being TO the PC from the MZRH1.

It's cross platform and does on Windows everything it will do on Linux (and more since the Windows version is being enhanced and the improvements have not been tested on Linux). If you are interested in joining the testing or development effort, suggest you check out the project at

Something else: it appears really spotty which models have date/time stamp. From what I have here to actually hold in my hand, the only two models which do it are the MZ-N910 (ie non-HiMD) and the MZ-RH1/M200. But I bet there are others.

No clue about NetMD style, since the NetMD format is missing a lot of information (there's no artist field in a TOC, for instance). Not even sure where/whether the N910 actually saves times.

My MZN10 records with date & time stamp. I can easily access this from the same disk played on my MZRH1

When making a lot of different recordings, date & time information makes it so much easier to handle a number of them later.
