obellet
Hi all, I have one Yamaha MDX-596 which is always appearing Mono signal on the screen and I don't how to switch it between Stere0/Mono without remote control. Remote control is lost for long time ago. Actually, if Stereo has been set, it will not show Stereo Text on the screen. It isn't a problem when i'm play back the MD but problem is record by using analog signal. Please help! Where should I buy MDX's remote? I living in Thailand and can't found here or either on Ebay. Thank you very much, Oat
sfbp
I can't help with the remote. I looked at the manual and it seems like Yamaha committed a major blunder with this feature. Maybe you should buy a second hand deck (for recording) by Sony - they are pretty cheap these days, especially if you don't even care about MDLP (Long Play) modes. Can you check Ebay for a replacement deck? Welcome to the forums!

Thank you very much, Oat The remote is hard to find and expensive. This place in the United Kingdom may have it: http://www.findremotes.com/remote-controls-1/yamaha-remote-controls-mdx596-50611.htm ...but the price is 42.64 GBP or about 2020 Thailand Baht. They will probably add shipping, too. It is possible that there may be some undocumented way to get from Mono to Stereo that does not require the remote, but you can't count on that. If you're going to spend the 2020 THB on the remote, then I think SFBP has a good idea about just buying a used MD deck instead. Good luck with it all! PhilippeC
I found a vietnamese guy in HCMC selling a Yamaha MDX-M5 - I suppose that one has a similar remote - but he did not answer to my SMS phone request. http://www.toitim.net/toitim-ban-ampli-md-victor-yamaha-theo-dan-mini-hang-ngon-tphcm-2715717.html
