Question

Hi,

I am looking at getting one of the sony HDD MP3 players just I was wondering if like Hi-MD (SS Version 3.4)

If DRM was removed or was this just Hi-MD?

(Or did it ever have DRM?)

This probably won't affect me getting one or not, just its some infomation I want to know!

Sorry if this should be somewhere els, I just coulden't find somewhere better to post this!

Thanks...

You can choose not to have the DRM function when using SonicStage 3.3 or later to import tracks. Those already in your library that have DRM enabled, however, need to be converted again. As long as you choose the same bitrate as the original file, it should take a second to convert each song from DRM to non-DRM.

Note that even if you turn DRM off, you can't transfer ATRAC files back to the computer from the player. Unless they are already still on the computer (I do not understand the function of that!)

Same as the iPod then!

Thanks

I want to avoid getting an iPod lol who needs to be another clone!

Well I managed to and I was told you couldn't!

I bought a new laptop which had no music on it at all.

I connected both mine and my partners NWA3000 walkmans one at a time to the laptop and dragged and dropped all the files I had on the walkmans onto the pc. (The files had been put on the walkmans with SS). I then transported these into CP and intialised the walkmans, and put the files back on.

The only thing that I had to sort out were all the files that had originally been mp3s. All the atrac files were fine, but the mp3s has become oma files with mp3 codecs which the player doesn't support. So I just imported the mp3s again which I had burnt onto cd from my old pc.
