Hudson
MDS-JB940#US-001 I thought maybe the US-001 could mean its an american one ??? I know i can record from some of my portable players but it just seems easier with a full sized unit connect to my CD player.
sfbp
I don't understand your question. But there are couple of reasonably priced 940's on EBay UK as I type. HNY!

sfbp
That's not strictly a model number AFAIK. Where exactly do you see this written? On the unit itself it should be 100% clear that it is for 120(115) or 240(230) Volts. I don't think these were ever made dual-voltage. There's a whole bunch of differences between the power boards. The plug is a dead giveaway. And the UK QS units typically had that red sticker saying "UK Sound Tuned" on the front somewhere. The European ones maybe did not. But you will recognize the plug easily enough. Sounds like US means USA. If you are getting one of the "wrong" ilk, it's only $30 or so for a step up or step down transformer. bluecrab
Here's one place it turns up...and it looks like this is a UK model. http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Sony-MDS-JB940-Mini-Disc-Player-/58116459 In any case, as sfbp notes, the plug or back panel tells you what you want to know. Incidentally, a "mint" (but apparently not fully tested) MDS-JB940 just sold on Ebay for USD 499. That included 30 new blank Memorex MDs (74), but still seems on the high side.
