Hudson
Just checking the spec of this machine, would it record from a CD to MD in SP at a decent quality, say compared to a full sized unit like the 940/980 or even a portable unit with type s on it. sfbp
You'd be better off with an MXD-D40 in my view - as this supports M-Crew operation from the PC. Also if you need optical out (for modern amplifiers) then we're talking a bit of electronic hacking, on any of these except the MXD-D400. Hudson
The pc side of things is not on the horizon, i will only be recording from my CD collection in SP.
sfbp
Even so, a D40 will set you back not very much at all, and should do the same job. Right now there are more D3's, I can see that. But it's likely that this is a temporary state of affairs. And.. to answer your question, the MXD-D3 is Atrac 4.5. This means that the later D40 will have better sound quality as it is "Type-R". If you look at completed MXD-D40 listings, there's one that failed to sell for £99, and one that did sell for £53. In the USA (granted the transformer being different requires a small expenditure for step-down but it's no big deal, the shipping may be more costly of course) one went for $125. Hudson
Cheers for that, i think i will stick with buying in the UK given the voltage side and the import side, the costs of the units makes it a little bit of overkill, now if your talking about the 50 or 555 ES decks then that is different. Cheers for the info.
