this is just me saying hello, new to the forum. after a search for software for sonicstage for windows 7 I stumbled upon this great site, I have since decided not to take a lump hammer to my sony md equipment and have started using them again after successfully installing the software from this site :good:

the netmd and himd recorders still IMHO sound so much better than any offering from generic mp3 recorders even fully compressed at atrac3plus.

anyhow thanks for the software and for this site I was literally about to completely smash to bits my md units and not buy anything sony again  I regained my mind thanks to this site :imsohappy: ...............thanks.

thanks for the warm welcome. yes glad I kept it together as iam a big sony supporter and an even bigger sony MD supporter. sorry to see the humble minidisc being discontinued as I felt it was and I guess to a lesser extent, still is a unique format worthy of use for many years to come. like a hybrid between a floppy disc, a CD and a tape, just plain unique.

I understand the lure of a fancy solid state mp3 player with no moving parts. my kids have them, my friends and family have them, but I just love the feel, the look and the fact that there is moving parts in minidisc players i. love loading a disc and hearing that noise as its being read, I love the feel of a disc in my hand, love even the different types and colours of the discs, I love everything about them full stop!!!!!

right that's my rant over thanks once again for your replies :good:

yes I agree jammy. I too like the partly mechanical part of it. This is modern Steam Punk? lol in a way it compares to owning a mechanical watch v a digital one? I also like that my portables just use AA batteries not some fancy likely to become unobtainable lithium cell. Lucky for us minidisc still sounds decent enough and is small enough, unlike cassette.

yea freddy my portable recorders just run on a single AA batteries, last forever too even during transferring for a while. from what I can remember one of my old netmd units came with a rechargable AA battery and an adapter plug to charge the battery whilst in the md unit. my slightly newer himd model never, I just use single use batteries, never bothered with the whole charging the unit thing, too much faffing about for me.
