"Device/Media not Connected"

Hi guys. I've been using previous versions of SonicStage for a while and finally got round to download 4.0 yesterday.

I uploaded many songs into the 'My Library' section and naturally went about putting them onto my MP3 Player (NW-A3000).

Normally, this is straightforward, but it only allowed for me to click 'Transfer to ATRAC CD', and above that was a white space normally where 'Transfer to MP3 Player', or whatever it would say. When I click on it, it goes into the section but instead of loading the artists from the MP3 Player it says 'Device/Media not connected', when it actually is!

I've no idea how to solve this and have uninstalled and re-installed a few times, to no resolve. Is there any solution to this?

Any advice/help is greatly appreciated! :)

Guest Stuge

could you tell me why. i have seen this a few times and was just was wondering why

Many people have faced problems whne they connect there player via USB hub.Even Sony manual recommeneds not to connect walkman via USB hub.

Oh, I have just realised what a USB Hub is: I thought you just meant a USB port in the computer itself.

By the way, could the fact that when installing SonicStage, that an error comes up saying "PX Engine Updater has encountered and must close" be the reason behind this problem??

Thanks in advance! :)

I am having the exact same problem. I have two devices, one NW-HD3 which used to work flawlessly and one new one, the NW-E005F. Now both cannot connect with SonicStage 4.0. I never had this problem with SS 3.0 or 2.0 I think their Version 4.0 is screwed up.

Welcome to AtracLife!

I will advise you to reinstall SonicStage CP 4 again .

I have same problem. I have tried everything suggested in the threads (and from other forum) but still no go. The onlly thing I haven't be able to do is to delete the sptd file from registry - I don't seem to have one.

Sony suggested the following:

Make sure you are logged in with an administrator account

- Right click on [My Computer] on the desktop and select [Properties]

Or

- Click [start] and select the [Control Panel]

- Double click on [system]

- Once in the [system Properties], select the [Hardware] tab at the top

- Click on the button marked [Device Manager]

You will then be displayed a window showing all components connected to your computer, so make sure your MP3 player is connected at the point.

- Click on the [+] button located next to the [universal Serial Bus Controller] section

- Under the list, you will see the MP3 player listed under [uSB Mass Storage Device]

- Right click on the device and select [uninstall]

- Select [Yes] to remove the device

- Restart your computer with the MP3 player still connected

- When the computer has restarted, wait for the hardware installation to complete

That didn't make any difference and they have now suggested I initalise the device. I will probably try but I have read eslewehre that this doesn't always work, in which case I will be left with nothing.

Hello, I am having exactly the same problem. I have tried the recommendations above, but my Device/media is still not being recognised by SonicStage.

I am using SonicStage 4.3 and have a Sony NWA3000, I had been succesfully transferring music from SonicStage to my mp3 for some time (since September last year), but for some reason it has decided to go tits up on me in the past few weeks. I have tried to remedy the problem with the following:

-Initialize disk

-uninstall/re-install SonicStage 4.3

and a few measures mentioned previously in the thread.

Frustratingly SonicStage is still not detecting my NWA-3000!!!! Also, I am having a problem with SonicStage itself, whenever I try to Exit SonicStage, the program itself does not shut down completely, and if I open Task Manager, it can still be seen to be running (and taking up 90%+ of my CPU). I believe these problems may be related but I have no idea how to fix it.

Any help with this would be great thanks! I am getting desperate here!!

I seem to be having the same or similar problems to metalgimp

NW-A3000, SS 4.2-4.3, XP no usb hub

used to work fine, but now SS wont recognise the device, only thing thats changed recently is i installed a new removable 500gb HDD

windows recgnises it fine as sony HDD, can explore it, and other programmes see it as a removable HDD

now the wierd bit, when i connected previously it auto booted SS fine, now it either loads the 'autoplay' box and messes about, or loads my camera pic viewing/downloading software, which can view the drive. checked and the autoplay option for the device/drive is not enabled and windows is still saying SS is the default for my player?

anyone got any ideas how i can get ss to recognise my player again, bored of the tracks now!

i have exactly the same problem and also have a NW-A3000, any new ideas?

I took a risk and re-initialised my NW-A3000 (format it through the player menu), and it did fix my issue, PC recognised it then, and could re-load all my tunes. Still doesnt load SS when i connect, but can live with starting that manually :D

big risk is if it doesnt fix it, you have a player with no tunes on and no way to load them
