soundforhire
Hi Yall out there in minidisc land, Stevie B here, I run my own small company, Soundforhire doing live music and recording. I have for years used SS4.3 as my major music library and either use minidiscs for supplying incedental music at live gigs or when I'm recording a live band, use my laptop to record on Audacity & play tracks from my SS4.3 library, that was until 3 months ago when "SS" suddenly stopped working and wouldn't even load onto the screen. I couldn't even access my music to back them up, in the end I had to uninstall "SS" looked for an alternative then found "SS4.3Ultimate" here at the insider site, EUREKA I was back up and running somehow although I'd uninstalled "SS" my music library was intact and hiding somewhere in the depths of my hard drive, and it reinstalled itself onto the "new" "SS4.3U", till last week that is when it failed to open "again", back to the forum looking for fixes but none of the fixes suggested by other members worked. Every time I tried to open "SS" it would start to load then a black screen would appear and a folder titled LocalCDinfo would pop up on my desc top. On opening this folder it was empty, delete it and it would reappear. On the three computers I have access to My desc top running windows 7, my wife's desc top running windows XP, and my lap top running vista, three seperate downloads of "SS4.3U" on each machine, the same thing keeps happening "SS" starts to open then freezes as the folder (empty) LocalCDinfo appears. Oh yes sometimes an error message also pops up. I can only assume, rightly or wrongly, that Sony (bless them) have got wind of this "new" SS4.3 ultimate, decided that since theyv'e stopped support for minidiscs in general, that no one should still be using them and have somehow managed to insert (by the back door) a glitch or subroutine in to every new download they detect so that "SS" fails to work so that folks like us are forced to buy new technology, hopefully theirs. My pc's are due for their annual MOT from my local PC wizzard, if he finds a solution to this problem I'll let you know, but don't hold you breath. If any one out there knows of a viable alternative to "SS" Please let every one, and me know. Cheers Stevie B
sfbp
Do a system restore to 10 days ago. Sounds like Windows Update to me.
