bluecrab
Does anyone know if SS will run under Lnx/WINE if using a non-HiMD portable? It looks like I'll be getting a PC laptop, but not one with Windows on it. I would be installing some version of Linux. Thus, the WINE question. Not going to pay for WIndows OS, as even XP (which I have used and like) still costs some $$. Is there a solution for this?
trott3r
If you can find a windows disc you could install and use the trial for 30 days. Image it at day one and when the trial goes reinstall the image. Not tried it myself but some people seem to think it will work

You consider getting a very cheap HP business note book like the nc4400 that come with xp prof. They are very fine dual core 2 ghz from c 2006, and use it just for sonic stage. Will prob last you the rest of your life if u get a good one. If you are in the USA I thiink these note books go for very little these days
Azureal
VirtualBox in Linux running an old copy of XP would likely work well too.
PhilippeC
If you have space on you HDD, Virtualbox is Ok. If not, you can also install this XP or Windows 7/8.1 trial on a USB key and use SS just for Net-MD transfer and edit.
bluecrab
The thing is, guys, is that I would get the laptop for free and although I would prefer (in this case) WIN to LNX, the fact is that LNX would also be free and I am comfortable with LNX. But I can't find anything conclusive about WINE's working OK with SS. Well, you never know...maybe an XP or other MS OS disc will turn up! Thanks.
