Nemo1966
Is the charging protection circiut for the LIP-8 battery module for the MZ-R50 pretty standard? I have a broken (seems blown) battery module and was wondering if I could simply swap the charging protection unit inside? Can't find a LIP-8 module in the UK for love nor money - even a second hand not charging one! thanks
sfbp
There's a nice mz-r5st for auction on the bay. In Oxford. Not too far away from where you are, item number 291714405542. That will get you 2 ( you could check with vendor). I found some in Japan at crazy price ie about $70. There's also something called a Powermart WSN001. I just took it out of storage and it held its charge for a good long time.
Nemo1966
I guess my question would be, can I remove the circuitry inside the battery and just put a new battery in - then as long as I charge the battery out of the player will be battery work normally? (The external charger has it's circuitry). Looking at the wiring diagram of the mz-r50 it looks like the player has it's own 2.8v regulator. Nemo1966
Additionally: It seems a bit sad that these great players are being forced into retirement or having to use those monster sized double AA battery packs, just be ause Sony aren't making the batteries anymore. sfbp
No more bids on that item in Oxford. Remember you should get TWO LIP-8's with it.
