0 kerfuffle
As far as I know, no volume limit unlock exists for any of the flash-drive-based Walkmans. Sorry.

0 Guest Stuge
Actually my NW-E307 has an AVLS setting on it. So there's at least one. AVLS is different from internal volume lock .
0 Blue_Yonder
Oh, OK. Never mind then. I thought since AVLS was a volume limiting system that it was same thing. Edited October 30, 2006 by Blue_Yonder

0 zacka
Yikes... The guy at Sony mailed me yesterday telling me the same thing I know already, that "in european countries, all mp3-players has a volume limit to protect our ears bla bla bla..."Hello? Couldn't he at least stop playing dumb and tell me, "sorry, I'm not allowed to tell you that" or something.I'm very satisfied with my NW-S205F in every other ways, so it's quite annoying that the volume is so low... 0 spex
Yikes... The guy at Sony mailed me yesterday telling me the same thing I know already, that "in european countries, all mp3-players has a volume limit to protect our ears bla bla bla..."I don't think he was playing dumb - just stating the reason for the limiter being in place. I had a conversation with one of the Sony service engineers a few weeks back about this subject. Even if there was a way of removing the limit they cannot tell people otherwise Sony could be held liable if a user suffered hearing loss as a consequence. 0 nobitsu
I got mine from canada and I can turn off AVLS function if I dont want it on.I can also have presets which is cool. =) Edited January 2, 2007 by nobitsu
0 kerfuffle
Um, every Walkman's got AVLS. That's got nothing to do with the problems owners of European models are having with their Walkman's sound. The problem they are having with it is due to French legislation. 0 nightsky256
i think we have to wait for a new firmware release and load the US-JP version instead of the european one...any of you knows if it's already possible to find a non-eu firmware release for S2xx ?another solution is to buy a couple of earbuds more sensitivei tried with the Sennehiser MX-450 (113dB SPL at 16Ohms) and it sounds loudernext days i will try a creative in-ear model that have an higher Spl level.and if the volume limit is an hardware limit, just like on an old 1997 tape walkman i had, it's possible to short circuit the resistors... but i think it's so stupid and expansive to develop 2 different hardware boards for eu and us-jp.... 0 kerfuffle
Firmware isn't going to make your Walkman louder.
0 wichi
hi,Please let us know the outcome, when you've short-circuited the resistors! If it's easy and a success, I think you're on to a winner. Good luck :)
0 Newbie Pro
My next step is to get some sensitive in-ear buds, like Koss The Plug. But if this shorct circuiting the resistors actually works, you may soon be the most popular person around^^
