Well, it was pretty much a signed/sealed/delivered certainty that that would never have passed through an RMA claim ;)

Having handled lots of RMA's before, and having a keen eye for dodgy RMA claims (you'd be amazed what some people have tried to BS me with over user-inflicted 'accidental' damage, and were highly offended when i failed to fall for the BS), it's damned easy to spot water-damage without even getting the unit apart ;)

Whilst it's the first Sony i have heard of that fell into a toilet bowl, it's not the first DAP mind i have come across.

Actually, items getting water damaged that way is not unusual - in fact, according to one of my friends in the insurance game, it's one of the greatest circumstances that covers why a lot of water-damaged cellular phones get claimed for :P

Yep, definately these are covered by 'act of god' and user-incompentency clauses protection clauses when it comes to warranty and accidental damage cover :D

Mind you, if you think water damage is gried, try opening up phones and stuff that's been a victim of the old cat urine ;)

Cat Urine... about two steps short of HydroChloric Acid for it's damage potential.. and it stinks the room out - that's why if i have to try to repair a CU damaged phone or kit, i open it up and leave it out in the fresh air (in a box, away from the elements) in the back yard for a few hours.. then, if it aint obviously an electrical writeoff, i might waste some hours trying to repair.

Mind you, that said, it's almost a certainty that CU has done irrepairable damage.

Claws are the cat's no.1 hidden weapon, but everyone forgets the urine.. no.2 hideous hidden weapon ;)
