Question

Hi,

How is auto song rating supposed to work?

I have NW-A3000 player (firmware 3.0) and i use Connect player v. 1.0.04.15300 and my player is set to manual sync mode.

Song rating is set to auto mode and i have 2000+ songs in my player (about 70% is mp3). Artist link is working on about half of the songs, but i guess that Connect havent uploaded all of them yet because it updates only ten to twenty tracks at the time when i start the program.

Anyways, all my song are in auto rating mode but none of the have been rated, why is this? All songs have 3 hollow stars.

One other thing, i have in my library 50GB:s music. what happens if i turn players sync mode to automatic? Does it try to export all song to NW-A3000? How i choose which song get transfered? Does Connect remove songs from player that i don't have in library anymore?

Thanks for anyone who can help!

Well, that's what i thought too, but problem is, that ALL songs still have the same "hollow" rating no matter how many times a have played them (or skipped for that matter)

Auto rating would be so cool and is a big job to rate all 2000 song manually :(

The Connect Player (NW-A3000) uses both automatic rating (hollow stars) and manual rating (solid stars). The more you play a song the more hollow stars. The less you play a song, and more times you skip than song the less hollow stars the song will have. Each song is automatically assigned 3 hollow stars when it is transfered from SonicStage to the Connect Player. SonicStage updates the rating when you connect to the Connect Player to your computer. Give it a try...

From what I can tell, the auto star ratings change based on how often you play, or skip, songs using SonicStage. These new star ratings then get synced to the player.

Playing only on a player seems to only affect Favourite 100.

That would make sense, because i never use Connect to play songs on computer, i use Winamp.

Shame, if that's the way auto ratings work, because the NW-A3000 player is the thing i'm listening my music with, not my computer.

Btw. i connect my player to Connect player few times in a month, that's why i was wondering why starring rates newer change and it seems to me, that top 100 is based only to song play count. I have now used NW-A3000 for about 3 months, almost daily.

These are naturally just small things, after Creative player i had i love my Walkman.

Thanks to you all for replys!

I have different experiments. I use an A3000, and my Sonicstage is empty. I mean there are no tracks in the library. But if I listen to a track a lot of times on my player, the rating IS changing when I connect it to my computer. Also Atrist Link enties are upgraded. The player in logging your music listening habits, that is how it can also create the "Favorite 100" playlist, and when you connect it to sonicstage, it will upgrade the rating, playlist from the log. Maybe Connect Player doesn't supported that function, but in SS 4 it works.
