Question

not bad at all for the a800 player, i went to sydney sony shop, the guy said it's 2 gb for 299AUD, 4gb for 399AUD, 8GB for 499AUD, it's higher than other countries or did he say the wrong prices, just let all of the down under mates know.....it's expensive, well then the guy said only japan has this right now, but hongkong is selling 8gb for 310AUD right now with alot of stocks, i guess the sony guy really need to come to atraclife and have a look just how slow his information is. anyway australia will have this in one or two weeks time once again the sony dude said that. much better getting it in other parts of the world if u have some ways to do this, but 8G for 499......i thought that guy was drunk, i only paid 209AUD for nw-a1000, i probably will get it from hongkong online

by the way for all of the down under mates, u guys can go to other sony dealers like bing lee and jb hi fi to buy stuff rather than going to sony central, check on offical australia sony site, there are more stores selling the same thing at a cheaper price, such as the nw-a1000 for 209AUD in bing lee a year ago, but in sony central with no any bonus they sold nw-a1000 for 349AUD then now still they sell it for 269AUD

Those are crazy prices. Here in New Zealand they go on sale soon for:

8GB $399NZD

4GB $329NZD

2GB $259NZD

Converting those prices the 8GB one would be about USD$287 and AUD$347. So you guys in aussie are getting ripped off! I am impressed with Sony New Zealands prices. They are lower than the comparable IPod nanos here by about $30

Nope, he said the right prices. It's not too bad, when you compare the 2GB version to the 2GB iPod nano . . . for an extra $80, you get a video player and decent earphones. Not to mention Sony's superb sound quality.

They come out here on June 18, but My Sony members can pre-order them until the end of this month and get them two weeks before they're released.

We allways get ripped of when the NW-HD5 first came out they wanted $550 for it, i am not getting the NWA-800 unless its around $350 max $400.

Otherwise there is no reason to leave my HD5.

Throwing money away, they might release a 20GB DnD one soon

For $347 from NZ i just might buy it there

nice price my nz mate, also i must agree with u lg1, there is actually no reason to let go of hd5, i mean it's a good player, good storage and nice quality, unless the price of the 8GB can be lower than the 499AUD.....much lower, i saw people's review and they all enjoyed the player with a alright price, so i may look around at other countries' prices and get it from there if it works out, yes who knows what they have in store for the future releases like what u said, better not to waste the money and in the future if they start to reduce the price again like the previous walkman players, then it's even better

Wow, 320 might think about that, what warranty does it have

well it was imported from japan but it does display english but the manuels are in japanese.

any way i believe it has 1 year waranty but that is only in japan so i will have have to mail it back to the seller, ( who said that he would be happy to get it fixed) if there is any problem(!). but it is working flawlessly

Why does Sony in Australia make the prices on these products so hight compared to other countries? They have a really good product in the NW-800 and the NW-600 and 700 range, but the prices are ridiculous. It's even more frustrating that it is near impossible to purchase the same products online from overseas unless you have people who live there and are willing to help.

No wonder these products have problems competing against the ipods etc.

Wake up sony.

Why does Sony in Australia make the prices on these products so hight compared to other countries?

Maybe because the Australian government implements higher import taxes/duties/whatever you call them for foreign companies? Or maybe the cost of running a company is higher in Australia than other countries? IMO things are pricey in Europe and Asia too, mainly because of those taxes/duties. But hey, at least you have them. In the US, they're not even available/released.

price is just too high in Australia, i can't afford the NW-A808 with 499 AUD, even at 400 AUD it is still too much. Best of luck for everyone at ebay. i have friends who brought it from Japan, great deal in Japan, like just around 100 AUD u can even get the NC22 phone
