Atrac3plus or mp3 on nw-a806?

Should I keep my music in mp3 format or convert them to atrac3plus? If i should convert to atrac3plus, should I use 256kbps or advance lossless? is there much different between the two bitrate?

I guess my overall question is between the 3 formats, which one sound the best on nw-a806?

Keep your mp3's as they are, don't convert them as all you will be doing is compressing them even more so and losing sound quality. Atrac 256 kbps will eat up a lot of space on your 4 gig player. I personally use Atrac 192 kbps on this particular player. You could use Atrac 132 kbps but I wouldn't use Atrac 48 or Atrac 64 kbps because sq would be compromised.

Okay thanks. I do have some CD's and do wish to rip them in atrac3plus format. Do you think I should go with advance lossless or 192kbps? Does the difference in sound quality justifies the extra storage space in advance lossless?

atrac advance lossless will take up too much space even at 64kb.....I would stick with atrac 132plus but definately do not further convert any mp3s. I have found that 132 is perfect for me...excellent sound and leaves space on my player.

There are advantages to using ATRAC over MP3 and visa versa. With the lower bit rate you can get more songs on the NW-A806, however at the higher bit rate you would get better sound quality.

For music I suggest to use advance lossless over 128kbs. It would take up more space but the sound quality would be better.

I would agree with dita on this issue.
