Sony NWE002 or DNE330 for girlfriend?

Both are £29 and ones a CD Player the other MP3 player.

My Girlfriend has just finished uni and wanted to get her something small as a pressy - shes never had a walkman or any portible audio player before - so I just got her a Pink Sony NWE002 as it was not expensive incase she didnt use it much... but now I see the Sony DNE330 for same price - what would you think a girl would like better as a pressy?

I see her on Thursday next!

umm i doubt any girl would choose to carry a CD player around when there is a choice of mp3 player.

I would give her the pink Sony NW-E002. No one carries a personal cd player around anymore. Well maybe the odd person.

I'm just worried that 512mb is quite small thinking about it now - prob can get 12 CDs at Atrac3+ 96 which should sound acceptible??

Definitely the E002. HiLP is very acceptable sound quality (ATRAC3plus 64kbps), a little better than MP3 128kbps. That will give you approx 250 songs (4 min each).

I did a test... encoded a typical 1 hour CD to Atrac3plus 64 and it came out as 28mb - the sound was ok, a little dull and some harshness in high sounds but fine to listen to if you out n about or traveling.

So we looking at 17 Albums on the NWE003 at one time - 17 hours of music.... not too bad really considering she will be happy with bundled headphones... the Hifi she listens too is an el cheepo Sony micro.

Atrac@96 did sound better and could fit 11-12 albums at one time - I will prob setup Sonicstage to encode at that rate as she listens to a lot of folk acoustic music

Atrac@128 deffo sounded best... Id say on par with mp3@192 - thats 9 albums per NW-E002.

Think it will be ok for her.

u gave her the right thing but u should have probably gotten her nwe002 in pink or voilet both looks sleeker voilet is in 2 gb. i m uisng it its exceptional battery life and amazing soundquality hope she would love nwe005 and u alot from thaat my uncle gifted me the same unit nop cd players are bulky and out dated and out fashioned

I only had the choice of Pink or Silver as stocks where low. So got her pink! Looked at other makes but for same price the units looked cheaper than the Sony. I have a S705 that Im very happy with.

Well gave it to her and she was overjoyed... esp as it was pink! She said she had a tape walkman years ago and it was soo big - so glad I didnt get the CD player. She does not believe that the E002 is an mp3 player as its same size as her flash memory stick lol.

ya dude thats sony and now they r following the same slick and cool design in their future mp3s range yup its vey solid mp3 player i also love it. i have 2 gb in voilet have u looked to nwe016 series in the forum

She has one problem - the suplied headphones are too big for her ears... So have to think of small headphones now!

hm well go for sony mdrex81lp or any sony in ear canals they r cheap. and sounds awesome this unit with the headphones although u r right that the headphones of this unit r quiet bigger for girl ears. my sister has same complain

I dont like the Sony EX71/81 earphones - poor boomy bass, shrill highs and takes a lot of volume to drive them! Prob give her my JVC FX33 which are a lot better!

Shes had it for a bit and Im glad I got it now - I was worried about the volume being too low - however she finds anything over 12-30 too loud for her on the E002
