navsimpson
Just a little snippit. Over at some guy's All About Sony blog, he states that Sony Ericsson's new Walkman phone (the w960) comes with Media Manager i.e. the software the PSP uses. I was just wondering if this means that all Sony products are finally moving closer to integration - or perhaps if the new Walkmans will start to use the software too, in addition to drag 'n drop. Just a thought. Here's the link:http://sonyfanboy.wordpress.com/2007/06/14...-walkman-phone/-Nav Edited June 17, 2007 by navsimpson
cauldron
I would certainly hope so, SE phones and PSP are both capable of drag & drop already. Just a thought (on my part too).
navsimpson
And, in the I told you so department... The same blog is now reporting that he "got some very promising news from some Sony fellows that there will be a point where all devices - Sony Ericsson Walkman, Sony Playstation Portable and Sony Network Walkman - use [sony Media Manager]". So this suggests that Sony will finally drop Sonicstage and integrate their digital audio brands, on some level anyway. I know that we got this news already with the B100, but we couldn't really tell if that was a one off or not.
aob9
Would this 'Media Manager' support existing devices or new devices only?

aob9
Yes, but you have to PAY for Media Manager for PSP and it is not required for PSP to function. Sony's Walkmans REQUIRE Sonicstage in order to play music. I don't intend to fork out for something I have already paid for.

I didn't see any in the pic.
navsimpson
I think Media Manager does currently support ATRAC files for the PSP - perhaps it will continue to. Now, this might sound crazy - but I'm not quite sure Media Manager is better than Sonicstage. It is a essentially a drag 'n drop program, but I don't know if it's anywhere near as intuitive as a jukebox as WMP11 or iTunes. It does look organised well, with tabs at the top and a menu structure on the left. Hopefully Sony will tweak it to cater more to Walkman users and then release it w/ new models later this year.-Nav
