Question

Hi! I've just got an NW-A608 for pretty cheap (75 USD), and I've a question about SonicStage. If I drag my music folders there, there is a problem: SS rearranges automatically all the folders based on ID3 tags (Artist, Album, etc), so the result is a chaos. How to keep the original folder structure? Or use something other program? (like mp3fm). And an other: is it normally, that the transfer is not so fast? Its pretty fast, but after every transferred mp3 file its doing something that takes a bit time. Btw I love this player :) Awesome battery, awesome looking, knows almost everything what it has to know. I'm missing drag and drop, but its not a big problem. Currently my problem is that rearranging thing.

I still can't get to grips with SS, but there are several knowledgeable people here that will definitely be able to help. They've helped me with loads of things that have made SS so much more manageable. So just hang around and wait for some help - they seem to know just about everything about just about everything here, it's a veritable mine of useful information. :)

Hello, Congrats on your purchase.

SonicStage uses ID3v2 tags to arrange your music files within the SonicStage library. This is only within the SonicStage library. The folder structure has not changed, however SonicStage uses this information for copying your track to the NW-A608.

There are however, other programs that you can use with the NW-A608. It is up to you whether you use them or not.

SonicStage seem to be creating files before it copies then to the NW-A608.

I do believe that Sony released a program called MP3 file manager for the NW-E400/E500/A608 series Network Walkman that supports drag-and-drop.

SonicStage has a steep learning curve, but as long as you understand tags you should have no problems and SonicStage will be easy to use.

OK, then if this chaos is only in SS library, then my question is this: How to play the tracks on the walkman according to the folders and not to the Artist/Album/Genre/... id3 informations? Is there a way for this? I tried mp3fm, its not bad, I could arrange the things well, but after that I still couldn't play the files according to my folder structure, only to ID3...

I have the E-405 which looks the same, but I can view "Groups" in Sonicstage.

Check out this post, I think this is what you're talking about. Good luck.

Edit: I'm not positive if it will work with newer versions of Sonicstage, as the fix is listed to work with Sonicstage 4.0.

Cool, thanks! But there is still a problem: I just dont know how to create groups.

I wrote this earlier in few posts before:

In order to create playlist, which functions much like a "folder," (or "group") click a playlist box located in upper right corner from your SonicStage 4.3 (right next to the bar indicating amount of memory left in your computer). Once you click, you will have two sections, much like having list of songs in your computer on the left hand side and songs in your Walkman on the right hand side; only difference now is that right hand side is a playlist while the left hand side remains the same, songs in your computer. Now, you may move songs from your left hand song list into the right hand side, the playlist. Here, you many create folder and move songs with unrelated artists into that folder in any way as you please, including any song order. After you are done creating your playlist (or folder), close the right hand side list (the playlist) by clicking the box, which you clicked to open the right hand list (one that is next to the bar indicating amount of memory left in your computer).

Now, you probably want to transfer this particular playlist (folder) to your Walkman. To do this, click a box found in your far left hand side saying displaying mode, e.g. Album/songs, into Playlist. After this step, you will see the playlists (folders) you created previously. Then simply transfer this playlist into your Walkman like you would normally do. Now, you have songs in a way you wish.

try this link.

playlist

By the way, does the NW-A600 series support Playlist? I don't own one so... just want to make sure. Thanks.

NW-A600 series looks exactly like NW-E400/500 series. The differences are that NW-A600 comes with larger capacity (2GB) and supports intelligent shuffle. It was release at the same time as NW-A1000/3000 series.

Now I have another question: I tried this program called GYM, made keys with keywizard, opened gym.exe, it shows correctly all my tracks on my walkman, but if I click to save selected tracks (while tracks are selected), it saves only an empty folder named the songs album, but not the song. What is wrong?
