With the current version of the firmware on the NW-S700 series it is not possible to create or add custom screens. It was a great idea when Sony created them for the NW-E400/E500 series, but it was not continued after the NW-A600 series.

However, if Sony does decide to add this feature then the first place to check would be here.

Are you sure about the NW-E700 series being discontinued. I know that the NW-E600 series is no longer sold in most parts of the world, however the 700 is still available. Oh well that is life.

True, yesterday I went to the Sony Store here in Puerto Rico and both the S600 and S700 series are available for sale which means they are not yet being discontinued (at least not here).

Hi,

here in Germany the players price is cut down in stores (this is always an indication of a new one coming) and the sonystyle store germany doesn't list the nw-s7xx-series any more.

the nw-s6xx where never available here in Germany.

Sure I made a good deal: 149 Euro for the 4GB Version (249 before!)

I picked one (Pink 4GB) up in the US at woot.com for $79 a couple of weeks ago. The SonyStyle site shows that the 2GB has been cut in price from $199 to $159... and the audio cable is "out of stock" ... I purchased a audio-in cable at the SonyStyle store here in Seattle for $9 - marked down from $27 - so the writing is on the wall I think - they are being closed out.
