Look at the second section of the remote control, the black part - do you see the plus and minus symbols? Plus makes it flip forward one album, and minus goes back to the previous album.Funny you mentioned the same 'problem', I had the other version before without wi-fi and it was great being able to change albums. When I got this one it was supposed to be exactly the same, but with extra features. I was really disappointed and was about to take it back, after a week of somehow never pressing the right button, I finally got it!I've given you the sequence as I remember it, if it's wrong, tell me and I'll put my 808 in the cradle and double check for you

As we're using exactly the same equipment, there's no reason that they shouldn't operate the same way. My player settings are set to normal as far as I remember. Are you on 'repeat' maybe, so that the remote control is overridden by the player settings? If you post back the exact settings in your player, I can then check mine against it - once we sync both players, then you can try again. It has to work, it's the same speaker system! The + & - buttons on the black coloured area of the remote doesn't do anything when the A806 is docked. The only way I found to make it (like) changing albums is to press and hold down the next track key. This enables the A800 to speed through the current album songs. One thing I would like other IX001 users is to check the remote model no. It could be different from the ones supplied with the UK CPFIX001.
0 juli_
That's exactly the same remote control number as mine and I can skip albums with the + and - symbols. Check to see what settings you have your player on. I had a hard time for ages before finding out how to skip albums. To be honest, I could have sworn I'd pressed every single button when I was first trying to flip albums, and when I finally hit the right button, I thought it was very strange because I was convinced I'd already tried that way! Unless there's some special sequence that activates those particular buttons, I can't think how I'm able to use mine now and yet neither of you can.Regardless of that, if we are using exactly the same equipment, you should be able to operate it exactly as I do. I suggested the first poster report back with the player settings so I could compare them with mine, incase the player settings are taking precedence over the remote control. It's not ideal to have to press the button down to skip through tracks to get to the next album, but I also did this till I hit the magic 'sequence'??? Good luck with that! That's where I looked first to see which buttons did what, but I couldn't find anything on how to flip albums.OK, my settings are: playback range - all range. . . play mode - normal, so we all have the same settings. Now to figure out why I can flip and you can't. . . or what the sequence was, if indeed, there *is* a sequence. I can't see why there would be, on the other hand, it would explain why it took me almost a week to access it. I can take a camera video of exactly what I do so you can see the albums changing if that helps, except how would I post it??Whatever happens, it has to be simple to figure out. At least you know it's possible, even though you can't do it yet. . .

You say you found a sequence, does that mean when you first tried the remote nothing worked until you had pressed a sequence of buttons.AllanI don't know if it's a sequence, all I know is I was going to send the unit back, because no matter which buttons I pressed (and I pressed ALL of them) I just couldn't skip albums. I tried in vain on and off for about a week and then gave up and decided to get rid of it.When I told my partner I was taking it back because it didn't function properly, he suggested I try it one last time. . . 'just to make sure', so I did, and when I pressed the + button again, it skipped albums. . . needless to say he assumed I'd only 'thought' I'd pressed the + and - buttons). I can only assume that when I was impatiently pushing all the different buttons down in a temper . . . I must have hit a sequence that activated the 'skip' function. Why else am I the only one who can use the feature? And why did I have exactly the same problem everyone else is experiencing? And where is all this in the user manual? It's not, because that's the first place I looked when the function wouldn't work. Anyway, I'd said I would video the 808 in action and show you that I can definitely skip albums using the + and -, but I didn't get time. But I will definitely do it tomorrow and upload it to youtube and post the link here. Although it won't help anyone with the 'sequence' - at least it will show it's possible. 0 juli_
OK, well. . . big egg on face I think!! It seems (though I'm not entirely convinced) that I've been using the 706 with the skip function, not the 808. The reason being, that the + and - buttons are now dead to me too I put the 808 in a few hours ago and couldn't get it to skip at all, then I put the 706 in - and it worked. The strange thing is my partner remembers when I first 'activated' the 808 'skip'. . . and I remember thinking how great my full-screen cover art looked when I flipped albums. . . and I remember trying it the other day. . .I'm still in the process of trying various other things. . . we can't both have imagined we saw the albums skip, and if we did. . . then the men in white coats should come and get us fast Edited September 9, 2007 by juli
0 juli_
I called Sony today and after explaining for 10 minutes that the + and - buttons could be used to switch albums on the 706 but not the 808, she disappeared to get some help, and when she came back, she told me to to try the + and - buttons for switching albums. . . ???I explained again, and she disappeared, came back and told me the + and - buttons were supposed to change tracks, not albums. . . so I explained that the track switching is not activated by the + and - buttons but by the double arrows (forwards and backwards) in the section above on the remote. She disappeared again, came back and asked me what the + and - buttons did - I said they do nothing, that's the point! The unit's compatible with the 706 and 808, so the same functions should be available for both units.Anyway, she's given me a reference number and I'll 'apparently' get a call by the end of the week. I wonder if Sony even know this function doesn't work, it seems they didn't test it first. I'll update if I hear anything back.

0 juli_
This is unbelievable. Sony called back and as I type I've been on the phone for 45 minutes with absolutely no joy at all. I was actually told that the CPF-IX001 is not compatible with the NW-A8xx series, only with the NW-S7XX series! The 'helper' stuck me on hold 5 times while he went to check the details, he then came back and explained very condescendingly that the A8xx series are. . . VIDEO walkmans (like I was mentally slow or something) and that the 7xx series are. . . MP3 players. . . and therefore not meant to be used with the CPF-IX1001!I told him it IS compatible, it states so on the Sony website - in addition I told him that this unit had been heavily discounted with purchases of the 8xx series, therefore how could he state it wasn't compatible? I even directed him to the Sony website which states quite clearly that the 8xx is a compatible product. But fortunately (for him) he couldn't get his page to load and couldn't comment. After a further 10 minutes of him arguing that I was wrong, he offered to call me back in a few minutes after he'd gone to check the details with someone else.So he just called back and told me this: "The A808 spec is different to the S706 spec, the folder options are set differently and the remote control cannot switch albums because of this difference in the spec". Annoyingly, the remote control for the previous model CPF-NW001 (which I had, and sold) DOES switch albums on both models (according to him) but he couldn't guarantee it. Instead he suggested that I go into a Sony store and demo it for myself.Another 'useful' tip he came up with was, if I wanted to switch albums, why didn't I just use a CD player??? How rude, the whole point of the speaker cradle is to be able to play music from the 808 on it. Anyway, I will go and demo the 'older' unit and if it switches albums, I'll get it. My problem is that Argos are going to be reluctant to switch them over since the issue isn't anything to do with them - it's to do with Sony not making things clear, so I don't know where my consumer rights come in. . .EDIT: Does anyone have a number for 'higher-up' Sony customer service reps? I'm a bit peeved because Sony themselves state that the wi-fi model is the SAME as the earlier model but with wi-fi capabilities. If it's the same, then the remote should operate the 706 and 808 in the same way. Isn't their description misleading? It should say the same - but without the facility to switch albums on the 808. 0 aob9
Just bought and set up this device. What a bloody nightmare. From what I can gather, all of the remote control functions work fine with the 'Networking' side of things. But, the remote is useless with both my 703 and 805. The only buttons that work for the tracks are the +/- buttons, everything else is 'dead'. As for networking, well, at the moment it keeps dropping the connection with my PC ( Ethernet). Lovely device, sounds great, but the usual effing crap with Sony devices. I also have a DLINK Media Streamer.............plug it in,select 'Connect' and never again a problem...............What the hell is it with SONY. The only buttons that work for the tracks are the +/- buttons, everything else is 'dead'.What the hell is it with SONY.Are you saying the +/- buttons are switching tracks?? I use the +/- buttons (in the middle black section of the remote) to switch albums on the 706 - but the same buttons don't operate for the 808. On the upper half of the remote, the 2 cursor buttons operate the track switching on both the 706 AND 808. I don't know why you're not able to switch albums on the 706.When I get time, I'm going to go to my local Sony store and take the 808 in and try it with the previous model CPF-NW001. If I can switch albums with that model, I'm going to see if Argos will take this one back (since I don't use the wi-fi anyway). The person I spoke to today said it WOULD work with the NW001, but I don't have that much faith in him after today. What's really annoying, is it's supposed to function in exactly the same way as the earlier model and it doesn't. Bloody Sony!!

But when I go to wireless it is not posible for the CPF to find the server. I can get acces to the device through the IP addr. So I got contact. Any ideas?I don't have mine anymore, I returned it and bought the wi-fi-less one for £39! I gave up with trying to install the software for the wi-fi one almost immediately. It got more complicated with each stage. I knew there'd be problems with it because I'd read the frustrated reviews at Amazon beforehand (but wasn't planning to use the wi-fi part anyway, just thought I'd load it and see how far I got. . . result, not far!!)Did you read the reviews at all? I think other people might have mentioned the same problem as you.On a side note, when I went to get the link for you - I noticed that the CPF-NW001 was now £75.77 so glad I got my second one yesterday when it was half that price!http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-CPFIX001-Wire...s/dp/B000K9DMDS
0 aob9
I have been using my CPF IX001 for about six weeks now and I have to say that overall I have warmed to the device. I never got album selection to work with the remote control. But, as a networked device it is quite impressive. I have it connected to my wired network as it kept dropping the connection with the wireless option. I have to say at this point that I have always had a problem with wireless in my house. Now that it is up and running I love the internet radio aspect of the device. I also have my SKY+ box patched through the 'LINE In'. The sound is good without being 'brilliant' but that is only to be expected with such a tiny device. I am considering a second device...@€129 it represents good value ( if you can get it to work). I have picked up on of the CPF-IX001 wirelss docks to use with my A808, but the remote only seems to be able to control the volume and change to next / previous track. Is that all it does? I was hoping to use it to change albums...
