NW-A808 A-Z search facility has gone!

Hi, help me please! For some unknown reason I cannot use the full A-Z search for albums anymore. I can still use it for artist and song etc, as it displays A-M and N-Z, so I can scroll up/down - right/left to search more quickly, but album search brings up only one option, A-Z

This means having to scroll through the whole list rather than being able to jump to a certain section. I haven't altered any settings either on the player, or in SS options, so I have no idea why this has suddenly happened.

I've already reset the player in the hope it would bring back the full A-Z function for album search, but no luck. Has anyone else had this problem suddenly surface for no reason? All that shows up now is just A-Z, with nothing in between. With about sixty albums, it's really inconvenient to have to scroll through individually. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, my first album begins with 'B', and last album begins with 'W'. Thanks

I will take a photo of it now to show you what I mean. Information is displayed as normal - but the A-Z at the top used to be in 3 sections, A-M N-R Q-Z (not in that order, but similar - now it only shows A-Z

Mine only has A-Z in the album section too. The various letters only show up separately in the song and artist sections. Didn't know it was suposed to be different until I read this thread though Maybe it changes to A-M N-Z if we have really a lot of albums.. Don't know... But 60 is a lot

Aaaah - I HAD 60 before I removed some last night - now I have 34, maybe I'll add more albums and see if the function comes back. Thanks GusG, you might just have brought something to light there!

Check your unit if the library is in Advance Mode or Simple mode?

I remembered sometime ago I changed some setting in Transfer Mode settings in SS and my A808 ended up without features like Rating and Recent Transfers disappeared from the A808 UI.

I only have a few albums on my player and the top still shows A-G, H-N, O-U etc...

GusG, it worked! I think by the time I finish adding the rest, it will split into 3 sections instead of 2. Glad that was sorted out

Tonyjaa - I can't get the ratings to show on my player and I'm scared to use auto transfer as I don't want to transfer everything from the library onto one player. Library stuff holds albums for the 706 too, and if I select auto transfer (to get my ratings to show) I'm sure everything that's not on the player with transfer!

Great the the solution worked for you. I don't use Auto transfer either as I normally select which album to transfer on my A808. You can check the Library mode by going to Setting > Common Settings > Unit Information. Scroll to the bottom and you should see Library: Advance Mode.. like what I see on mine.

I too am glad Mine shows that it is in advance mode and only shows A-Z because I dont have many albums (I think lol) But it shows the ratings. (didn't quite understand if your's show or don't)

My ratings weren't showing, when I tried to rate a song, it would tell me to 'connect my device', but I've switched to advanced mode now, so I'll check the ratings later. As for the amount of albums I have on there, they're not entire albums. Some only have 3 or 4 songs in there (after cutting out what I didn't want!!), it looks like I have more than I actually do! So it's really useful to have the A-Z search work properly now.
