0 bob123_ Posted September 20, 2007 Report Share Posted September 20, 2007 I think they will also be getting ready to sell the A818s with drag n drop support. Here in New Zealand the sony.co.nz website has had the new A818s up for a while showing saying 'out of stock' - upon me querying sony nz they say that the A818s will be available in about a weeks time. Note that from the A818s (8GB version) is $399 NZD, same price as was for the A808. The NZ website says that the S61* series will be available from October. 0 bogon07 Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Share Posted September 20, 2007 No mention of the A81* series in OZ only the Sony Style Newsletter only mentions S610* series, "scheduled for launch at the end of this month." There needs to be some country to dump the old A80* stock Seems the 8GB models ares till cheaper over in NZ. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
0 kerfuffle Posted September 20, 2007 Report Share Posted September 20, 2007 At least these prices are competitive. The 4 GB iPod nano is $199. For $40 more, you can now get the NW-A805 with decent earphones, better sound quality, etc. etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
0 bogon07 Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Share Posted September 20, 2007 (edited) kerfuffle, there's a pink A806 4GB $229 ...... feel tempted but there is a pink S616 @ $199 now available. Stay with ATRAC and a very stylish player or WMP & something cheaper that looks like a phone what a dilemma. Just noticed this morning that SonyOz have the S610series up and some available for purchase others show 25September dates: Now these guys really are competatively priced on release which is a nice change.S615 2GB $179AUDS616 4GB $199AUD S618 8GB $299AUDThe S615 really makes the NWDB105 @$149 look excessively overpriced Edited September 20, 2007 by bogon07 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My favourite colour's sky blue. xD Pricing looks odd for the S615 . . . for another $20, you get double the capacity. O_O My brother's on the lookout for a MP3 player . . . ought to get him to take a look at this. *shifty*Does this support ATRAC? According to the article on ATRACLife here it does, but there's no mention of it on the Sony website. =| Edit: Guess not. We seem to be getting the drag-and-drop version. 0 bogon07 Posted September 21, 2007 Author Report Share Posted September 21, 2007 (edited) Sorry again kerfuffle. Sony seems to like violet/blue one their players.Yep the pricing on the 2GB S615 & 4GB S616 is odd. Why wouldn't anyone spend another $20 for double the capacity useless they're desperate for a silver one. It seems you'd have to get the Japanese versions for ATRAC capability. I wonder if the Japanese model numbers are different? OzSony has them as NWZS61xF at the moment but I've seen mention of NWZA61x for the non-Japanese ones. Unfortunately the site photos don't indicate what type of earphones come with these new players. If they were the EX85 (as seen in the ATRAC article photos) that would make the players a pretty good buy. 0 kerfuffle Posted September 21, 2007 Report Share Posted September 21, 2007 I think the Japanese models are listed as NW-S61xF. So if there's a Z in the model name, it's a drag-and-drop model. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
0 gotthat Posted September 21, 2007 Report Share Posted September 21, 2007 certainly NW-A800 should drop the price in australia, it's just too expensive, even right now NW-A808 at 399 AUD is still expensive compare to what u get from other countries (that's if u can have a chance buying it from other countries). The price for NWZ-61X is higher again than other countries.....though 299 AUD for a 8GB sony dap is alright, it does come with a cheap stock earphones. i like the japan models better NW-S61X and NW-S71X, atrac is still there, also NC function for the NW-S71X, i don't mind the look of the NWZ-S series, just kind of less stylish than the NW-A800 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
0 TJP Posted September 21, 2007 Report Share Posted September 21, 2007 Hello all,My first post here I too have been looking at a Sony DAP to replace my iPod. The A80* series sure looks good although the Oz prices are quite steep compared to the rest of the world.I notice some posters refer to buying from the USA , so does anyone here have a preferred overseas based reseller for DAP's? I've found a UK based seller (Advanced MP3 Players) who ships world wide, but the Aussie dollar to GBP conversion makes purchasing from the UK a so-so proposition cost wise.Cheers. Question
bogon07
Sony Australia have dropped the prices of the A800s:
NWA805 $299 -> $179AUD
NWA806 $399 -> $229AUD
NWA808 $499 -> $399AUD
Interestingly the A806 has the biggest price drop $170AUD. I can feel my credit card twitching.
They must be clearing some stock space for the S61* coming at the end of the month.
