Leland
I have installed SonicStage 1.5, already having OpenMG Jukebox on my computer. SonicStage1.5 seems very slow and unresponsive compared to OpenMG Jukebox. Does anyone else have this problem? Second question: What would any of you say are the benefits of Sonicstage 1.5 over OpenMG Jukebox. I am hard pressed to find them.

That´s pretty much all the advantages i found.. I think you shoud only use SonicStage if OMG craches contantly or you really hate the interface.. Leland
How about performance? Do you find SonicStage significantly slower to load and respond to many commands? After applying the patches to Open MG Jukebox, it doesn't crash often at all. I am interested in hearing how responsive you find Sonicstage 1.5 incase there is something wrong with my installation. It takes a few seconds more to load Sonic than OMG, but it is defenitly worth the time in added stability. I tied to patch OMG, but that even worsend the stabillity for me... Leland
Thanks, that is interesting. For me, Sonicstage takes many seconds longer than Open MG to do its stuff. Once the program is loaded, it is sluggish and unresponsive. It might be my install, as I did not un-install Open MG Jukebox before installing Sonicstage. I will have to experiment when I have the time. OpenMG Jukebox has been very stable since installation of the patches, so perhaps I should let sleeping dogs lie. tmeg
I find SonicStage also very solid (no crashing) but to my suprise OpenMG seems to be more reliable too, no crashes since update. SonicStage has some improvements for Import operation: It checks all files before import. So you'll be shure that the (long) import will run through. While OpenMG will show a messagebox as soon as it finds a file it can't import. Very anoying if you want to import a few hundred songs over night. Next improvement is that SonicStage creates correct Playlists for "mass" import. But OpenMG seems to put all files in the same playlist, if I don't specify another one ?! OpenMG has a more "traditional" UI, thus is easier to use and perhaps a little faster at this point. SonicStage seems to be optimized in certain points. For example all files are converted without a break if you checkout for example a CD. While OpenMG only converts the next track and then waits. But this brings no real advantage in speed. profingersk8er
on my computer (pentium 4 2.26MHz, 512 pc2700), i found SonicStage much much faster than OpenMG. SonicStage converts music files much faster without slowing down a bit, music checkout onto my n10 seems a lot faster too. but the animation from SonicStage laggs a little when running 3-4 programs at the same time. im my option, SonicStage's much better, but its just me
zeromd
also there's an option to disable animations, so it may run faster if you do that.
Daijoubu
Don't install all the addon crap for SonicStage (Visualizer, crappy simple skins) and desable animation...smoother than OpenMG (ea: faster screen updating while draging a windows over it/maximise/minimise) Check-out speed remain the same, didn't timed optimisation delay thu..
