Guest Anonymous
My E-75 has the 7 step bass / treble, but most US models seem to have just mega bass. I like the tweaking options.
Christopher
If I'm not mistaken, the 707 has seperate bass/treble controls. k
Bazirker
kurisu, you're not mistaken, the MZ-N707 does have seperate bass and treble. Ara, it looks like your wish has come true!
Shorty
The MZ-N1 also has seperate treble and bass controls as well as the preset sound modes.

darK (aka Tharaka)
yeah... so.. my R-700 has seperate bass and treble as well.. (after hack) anyway... i never knew so many players had it.. i though it was only the R900/909/
me
I think the 8 step is in all players E75 and on, and all high end recorders, starting with the R900 + N707 gen and on. Hacks excluded

me
8 Step ends with the E710/10, and N10 (which could mean the End of Megabass, R700 didn't have the 8 step, now the N707 does, perhaps next the N505s successor will, whereas the others have the 6 band EQ?) triplea
A multi band EQ would rock. Virtual surround and other shitty things ain't worth the extra cost, though
Takman
As handy as an EQ is, it's not a substitute for an excellent balanced output to begin with. I was worried the lack of adjustability on my DS8 would be a problem with my bassy earbuds as I would normally tweak the trebles on my R900. Fortunately, the DS8's default sound is superb so I didn't need to adjust anything. I agree about surround settings and other effects - I can happily do without them.
