mz-e510 with v-surround???

:?: I bought this Sony MZ-E510 in Japan, and as I payed attention to the LCD display on the remote (RM-MC33EL) I can clearly see a V-Surround Icon or something, but in the manual it doesn't say anything about virtual surround or whatever that is, Is this really a feature of this MD? Thankx

It's the mode where you can play with your unit internal settings (laser power, aligment, power tweaks, etc...) which is saved in the eeprom and since all units of the same series feature the same chipset, functions are desabled via software mode

so how can i enable it? by hacking maybe?

yeah, you have to hack the MD and change some settings. here is a link for the *10 series of recorders, i don't know how well it will work with a player, but you can try

the reason you see V-sur on you remote is because sony uses the same remote for a number of different models, and the higher models have this feature as a built in ability.
