Mulletman
Hi Im new here to the BB but Ive been around the main site a few times. I havent had much experience with MiniDisc so i was wondering if you guys could help me. I used to have have an Archos HDD/mp3 player as my main source of portable music. Long story short, i ditched the Archos and bought a MD player for my own. since i didnt know much about MDs i bought a cheap one off of eBay, It was the MZ-N505. i still love that one to death but its taken a few too many trips and tumbles. i would like to buy a new one as my primary MD and leave the 505 as my back up, the one that i take ot class and can just toss in my backpack. i really dont know much about MDs so i was hoping you guys could help me out with a few recomendations. im a college student, so i dont really have much to spend. perferably id like to keep it no more than $200. im a huge music junkie so id like one with some good sound options. also any high quality headphones you might recomend. really appreciate yer time and help, thanks! 8
I highly recommend Sharp for portables. The DR-7 is amazing. It serves as my high quality portable and recorder. I use my Sharp MT200 for tossing around (in my pocket and such) on the streets. Both models smoke your 505, but the Sony will work well for exercise or any other time you want to walk around w/ a portable and not have to worry about babying equipment. Check out minidisco.com for Sharp portables for sale.
Christopher
Minidisco.com is good, but I'll have to throw in a vote for audiocubes.com as well. Sharp portables are the best for quality, and I've heard good things about Kenwood portables as well. As for headphones, I would consider anything in the 'eggo' line most excellent. I can give you more headphone recommendations if you desire. Good luck.
acp89
should also check out the sony n710 or even the n910 that goes slightly outsied ur budget......n710 is a good overallunit
Mulletman
thanks for the help. i figured Sony would make a better model. as for the headphones, i never found "eggo"s everyone seems to talk about. instead i found the MDR-Q55SL brand new for 6 bucks on ebay. 8
thanks for the help. i figured Sony would make a better model. Many MD people don't think so. I'm one of them. I truly feel that the sound quality of Sharp protables is amazing. It's a different story when it comes to decks, though. Do yourself a favor and DON'T choose your product based on brand name. You've never heard a Sharp portable, so you can't compare at this point.
Guest Anonymous
I have to chime in with the Sharp chorus here. I began with a Sony and wound up regretting it. A few months back I got the Sharp DR7 and things have been looking up since. No comparison.
