Declan
Greetings, It appears to me the MZ-NH1 doesn't sport manual OR auto level controls for recording, other than mic sensitivity lo/hi for live recording. Do you agree? If so, can down-stream editing software make up for this? By the way, as a newbie I'd like to thank this community for an awesome resource. You can learn quite a bit if you're willing to poke around. All the best,
KJ_Palmer
The NH1 would in fact appear to have both recording level control and auto level (AGC), like every other Sony recorder. Of course we can't be absolutely sure until the units are released, but there seems to be no reason why not. Check these Hi-MD specs for more info... This is starting to look like a very useful tool/toy.
KJ_Palmer
Yep, at long last there'll be features for all music and PC fans to enjoy. I for one can hardly wait. Later generations will be even better, but the first ones will keep us happy for a while... Anyway glad to have helped
Tenorich
One of the things I liked about my old Sharp model was being able to adjust levels as I was recording (live, opera). Hated it when I found my Sony only could do this while paused. Any idea if they've gotten rid of this silly nuisance? (First post btw, good forum.....next topic to research, what limitations will Sonicwhateverit'scalled present for me when I upload to my pc. I need to be able to share mutilple copies of anolog recordings...again, live stuff of my favorite tenor.....me. Lately I've been using the line in crappy way, then uploading to my Yahoo b'case. I'm interested how HiMD will allow me to make good copies and be able to upload for others to download. E.g. Will copy protection of stuff transferred to pc kill me?) I'll continue to research this. Leland
Sony already changed this several models ago. My N10 can change manual recording levels while recording.
spg66
Sony already changed this several models ago. My N10 can change manual recording levels while recording. But will you have to navigate through 600 menu levels to get to the setting to allow manual level controls? Will the setting be persistent, instead of reverting back to auto level control? Just curious...
crazeybt1
now just my opinion here right.....one thing i don't like about Sharp MDs..they got too many buttons for basic stuff...i like the cool factor where u gotta navigate through menus to do stuff...it helps when someone who love to tamper but know nothing bout MDs try n play with ur stuff...sometimes i even wish recording was done that way..due to some fast ppl who i've lent my MDs just for a listen n they track mark n record on my stuff..that stuff just pisses me off..but tell me..y have a button for bass...n play moods...to me we're passing that age son....yeah u gotta go through Menus...which i find cool ne way..n i doubt ne 1 who's into SONY's don't.. if u look sharp sooner or later MDS might come out with big lcd displays..probably runing some software that SONY made.. unless....microsoft enters the market ...n starts making an os for Panasonic MDs n Sharp n Kenwood etc.. ..remember what they did with Ericsson phones. ......... who knows better os might mean better capabilities..cuz the way i c this heading.. we might sooner or later b able to navigate MDs as we do with Cameras now..hmm..thinking of which this idea is copy writed.. ...i'll sue
larry_llama
I'm surprised that someone without the patience to use complete words would have the patience to navigate 30 menu levels to start a recording.
