TOC Error

Sorry that this is probably redundant.

I recently recorded an amazing Sarah Harmer concert only to find that the second disc hadn't recorded, so I'm thinking it might have been a TOC error. All that's on the disc is the 5 seconds of silence I recorded before the show.

Is there any way to fix this, or is it lost forever?

THanks,

Bobby

Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and try to fix that concert as vividly as you can in your memory. Or see if you can find a fan who will trade you another concert for your half-bootleg of this one.

Condolences, but it's gone, dude. We feel your pain. Believe me, we do.

There is a little hope. Once the same thing happened to me, but a friend of mine who possesses an MD deck managed to bring the music back! I think that the error happened when writing the TOC. The music was recorded. That is, do the following: don't record anything onto that disc and try to clone the TOC of another disc which has only a full-length track on it.

Good luck.

What do you mean by "clone the TOC of another disc which has only a full-length track on it"???

Can you provide steps for people who haven't done this, por favor?

I lost a few recording with my darn MZ-N1, but I never knew of this trick! Thanks!

Trying to do that cloning the TOC trick to regain a valued MD, is there some trick to fooling the unit when you swap MDs, it shuts down when I hit the open button?

TOC cloning, unfortunately, cannot be performed on every MD recorder. Only certain models are TOC cloning capable and nearly all of them are decks. I do not think there are many, if any, portables capable of TOC cloning...

I spoke to someone in the Sony technical area who said that you can't clone on the MZN707 you need a deck .... but I'm not sure whether that was just a convenient answer or the truth. I also spoke to a technician in a certified Sony repair business - he didn't know about the cloning process :-) so I referred him to some articles that I got off this list.

I'm still persisting with covering things in the disk carriage to see if I strike the right spot :-) bit hit and miss but I am a man afterall.
