Leland
Sony officially updated the ship dates in Japan on Hi-MD, softening the blow somewhat by also announcing some new colors. The portables will now be available July 10, 2004. In Japan, when a specific date such as this is given, it is almost always met or exceeded by a few days (meaning earlier, not later), with stock in the shops ready to sell that day. Matsushita
Sweet! :rasp: Looks like I'll be importing the gold NH1 model. Those new colours are exclusive to Japanese markets only correct?
Leland
Exclusive to Japan would be speculation, but so far that is the only place we've heard of em.

woppin
im not in tokyo, im all the way out in toyama, will it still be the same date do you think?
Leland
Yes. The date should apply anywhere in Japan. I would start looking a few days in advance, but not expect inventory until the date quoted in the announcement. If you get it early, that is just lucky. djsick
First of all , I hope it's the right place to ask you these questions on the HI-MD...anyway I mean to buy my first MD (HI-MD) in Japan (in Sapporo) as soon as it is available (10 july). I though there are only four different type (MZ-NH1/NH900/NHF800/NH600D), but what are the NH3D and EH1 actually? is-it just the NH1 with another design? Also as I live in Europe with a different current type...do you know if the Hi-MD work also on simple AA batteries? or please do you see any others obstacles or difficulties to buy a HI-MD and use on Europe (sonicstage....,)? thank a lot to reply. Leland
Well, it's possible, but not likely that the software will only be in Japanese. The N10 came out like that in Japan initially, but I doubt that will be the case with HiMD. Several of the units you mentioned will not be available in Japan. For sure the ones in the Japanese announcement, all of which use Li Ion rechargeable batteries. The NH900 might be released in Japan, but I don't know when. It will use the NiMH rechargeable batteries. The units like the NH600 with the AA battery will most likely not be for sale in Japan. These types are usually export only, sold in the US, Hong Kong, Europe, etc. The NH3 differs from the NH1 in that it cannot record from line in or mic in, it only downloads from sonicstage. coolice
What's the difference between the NH3 and the EH1?
Leland
The EH1 is only a player. It will not record and it will not download music from the PC. If you have not made the MD with some other device, you will have no use for it.
