MZ-NH1
I have just been to the Windows Media Player 10 page - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...10/default.aspx where they are launching their new 'improved' audio player. On the site it says that new to the Media Player, you can sync your portable audio device, with the media player, then it goes on to list all the devices it has support for. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...vices/msfd.aspx As you can guess, not ONE Sony device is listed, so I posted a thread on their forums asking why, and I was soon to realise that Sony haven't addressed Microsoft about venturing into this kinda thing, for the obvious reason that Sony has its own music format, and no player can recognise it. I'd like to get everyone’s opinion as to what they think about this, because I am sure a lot of people use Media Player like myself, and being able to transfer files onto my MD through this would be a lot easier, but because of Sony’s s*** format, we can't. I think Sony should hurry up with their ‘wav converter’ or not have their own crappy format that no one can use
The_Stamp
you ought to add a choice: keep using atrac3 yet have WMP10 recognize it. Realplayer recognizes the regular MD. besides, i dont think Apple would like such a move, since the CEO of sony was just recently talking to steve jobs about integrating Apple's music player and online music store. MZ-NH1
Yeh I read bout that last night, Jobs and Sony. I think it would be allot easier overall if Sony changed their format, because then only Sony has to change the format and not Real One, Media Player... and all the others... unfortunately you can’t add in any other poll questions once it has been submitted If anyone knows how to edit the poll, let me know and I'll do so. mutant1345
ive said it before and ill say it again, yes i think it is in sonys best interest to chnge theyre format but i also believe that it will likely never hapen ... what you read about when they are talking about combining with other companys and such are just tossible brainstorms, likely to never happen and people write about them and the public gets excited and then more frustrated at sony for not doing it as they promised when in reality they never promised anything they were just considering doing it, its just one of those things...but i do wish that other media players, and i will always feel that way but face it, sony has us by the balls in control of the format and we can only hope and ask for change
RichM
You don't have to buy a Sony personal audio player, there are plenty of other good players from other manufacturers with less restrictions. But that's the thing about consumer choice. If you plump for a particular format / player you should accept it 'warts and all', but only doing so after thoroughly researching it. mutant1345
i never said you had to buy the format but if you did and want to stick with it then you have to wait out untill things change a little bit so as we can get our freedome

But there is a tendancy amongst some to buy a product they have not properly researched, then gripe about it because it doesn't live up to their expectations. I've said to much, I'll shut up now. mutant1345
yes true but thats there own fault so i dont think anone really should sympathize about them... when you go into the md format you should know what your getting into and expect everything that happens with it and right now sony is slowley but surely increasing the benifits that you get with md
