If lightbulbjim's EH1 hadn't arrived in the post just today, I'd have thought about offering you a straight trade: my plum E730 for one of your (many) EH1s I agree with you, tho'; the E730's a charmer. I was lucky to score BNIB on eBay this past December from some guy in Australia. He also had a BNIB EH1 but I lost the bid while on a transcontinental flight, unable to compete - such is life... Best of luck on your request!

I still think that TBR's youtube 'comparison' post (an NH3D vs an iPod) says it best - that's pretty much how I hear it too. One's clear, the other's mud.

Bravo, fellow collector of quality merch. Tragic that you have to leave it all behind, though; if my own assortment of goods wasn't already quite fat (where were you a year ago!), I'd be tempted to make a pitch. I really hope somebody comes to you with an offer for the lot. They'd be scoring a deal. Good luck (tho' I don't think you're going to need it)!

Around this time last year, I started to realize that the MD world was winding down and that my N10 wasn't going to see me through to end-of-days. So I started to collect machines. Long story short, our man in question has procured for me since September a back-up EH70, a gorgeous bronze EH930, and a fab champagne NH1 - some of that took some good running around on his part. I've subsequently poached the legacy E520 from his Post-MD Apocalyptic Sanctuary and I'm confident a pile of Twinkles will be en route at some point too. Guitarfxr has been the number one source; he's packaged and posted with care and speed. Many many thanks!

I too have benefitted from business with Syrius. Great packaging of NH900, and the addition of the 40ELK and 5 original HiMDs sealed the deal. Thanks!

I adore md for a multitude of reasons, but the deal-sealer is the audio quality. I rip CDs to my mac at 256kbps and then stream my playlists 'live' through an optical cable to my RH1. I realize that this isn't the optimal way to transfer tunes (for quality, and nevermind the time it takes to do it) - compress and then compress again - but I'm delighted with the end-product. Clean and subtle, and I could go on with the adjectives... But then I think... I'm here listening to my 'new' champagne NH1 (praise be our master guitar repair artesan), revelling in the sound as usual, but I'm wondering now, five years on from the advent of Hi-MD, whether Sony's engineers might have managed as big a leap in sound quality as they achieved, say, between the E909 era (Type-R) and their last models, the EH930 for example. For me, the jump is truly extraordinary. My ears are now accustomed to the putative excellence of MD as we know it now, but surely it's not perfect (in theory). This is what I most regret with the demise of minidisc. Sigh. What coulda been...

Zut alors, did I swear? I have to blame Tin-Tin for that one, I'm afraid.

I've had nothing but great service from Minidisc Canada. I bought one of my RH1s from them and it's fine. Their M200 appears to be out of stock, but yeah, $277 usd for the RH1 isn't bad. Pity the Cdn buck which has taken a nosedive the last 3 months...

Zut, you insist on separating me from my money! I guess that's OK.

yeah, it's getting kinda sad. some kind of fever...

This is the email I got from the owner of minidisc access when I hit him with the exact same question last March: Thanks for your email. You'll want to use a 6-volt adapter for your NH3D, since that's what it's rated at. Sony actually made a 6-volt model until only recently. We just did some searching and were unable to find anyone who still carries them for any kind of reasonable price. Unless you stumble across a supplier on the web, you'll need to go with a universal AC adapter. Your best bet is to check out your local Radio Shack. They have a very wide selection of adapters and interchangable plugs that should accommodate your NH3D. Here's an example right here: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=family Just make sure that the one you get is rated at 6-volts and over 800mA. When you go to the store, be sure to take your player with you so that you can correctly determine the plug size. They vary on the outside AND inside diameter. Many times the outside of the plug will look right, until you look the opening inside the plug. That's where you can bet messed up. So no, that AC-E30A at minidisco won't do the job. Hope that helps.

I bought an NH3D and then got me a Sony AC-ES608K AC Adaptor off of eBay (from this shop called 'internet time). Works a charm here in Qatar. It's a universal 100-240v, 50/60Hz with an output of DC 6V at 800mA. Cheap enough, and a sight less bulky than the above offering Anyway, I'm no electrician, so I could be totally off base here... Is it a Japanese site? They claim to have EH1s and E730s... Intriguing, but surely not.
