I agree with most of what groovyone said, but the thing is with phones is that unless its got a decent inbuilt memory like the w950, you have to shell out for expensive memory sticks. However, the w950 seems a much better idea, it doesn't have the pretense of a camera, and I think is all the better for it. Good gadget.

Acermao, no need to get so touchy. But you have a point. I know what you mean wcahyono, the two devices in one is appealing. My experience shows tha battery life is an issue, if I use my phone as my music player it means I lose call standby time and might not have a phone. The sound quality thing is an issue, but to be honest I don't find the SE phones bad at all, the bundled headphones are good too, and if you want you can add better ones as its just a 3.5 jack anyway.

Well I'm not completely sure what caused it, but my S705 kept decided to keep switching off on me, as in completely turn itself off. To fix it this meant plugging it into the comp, or reseting it. Even plugging it into the comp was a dangerous business as occasionally it would disconnect itself for no apparent reason.... ....but I think *crosses fingers* I've fixed it. The battery was low, and after some playing about its now charging well without disconnecting and all's good. Until it screams "NO DATABASE" at me, the player itself won't acknowledge it has any music on it, I know its physically in the memory, and sonic stage recognises this, but the player refuses to acknowledge the fact. The functions itself work fine on the player, it just thinks its empty when its not. Any pointers? (I'm hesitating from formating it, as it took a long time for me to get everything sorted out the way I liked, are they any other options?) Thanks for your time.

As much as people bash Sonic Stage, I'm actullay starting to quite enjoy using it, especially with the latest release. It doesn't crash anymore, and has all sorts of intuitave little touches that make things much easier and I enjoy the simple layout. I've even started using it in preference to WMP as my primary music playing app. on my PC.

Ok Ok I'll stop complaining, I just discovered that Sonic Stage imports playlists into the walkman without actually duplicating songs I already had on the device as I orignally thought it did, so I'm now in love with sony again lol

Anybody else had any problems with this on the S-70xxx series? Either the port or the wire are very tempremental, they do work, just after much jiggering about and blowing the inside. Very annoying and fiddly. Especially annoying in comparison to the usually very good sony build quality.

Hi soulmaster, it is a bit of a bitch (especially for the non-techno minded like myself). I don't know how far you are so I'll guide you how I did mine (from both sides): Comp side: Set up the router as per instructions. Note down what security encryption you put on with the router (they're called: WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP) or WPA (AES) ). The encryption thing takes the form of a number that you choose. Make a note of it. Also make sure you know the name with which the router shows itself as, mine shows as DLINK_WIRELESS, but I think you can change it if you wish. PSP side: Scroll over to Settings. Then to the bottom of that: Network Settings. Infrastructure mode. Then click on [New Connection]. It *should* scan a bit, and find your wifi being broadcasted. Mine shows as DLINK_WIRELESS. Next go along to WLAN Security setting. Here select which encryption you put in on the router (WEP etc). Then put in the number that you made a note of earlier, and go. If that's all working select easy address settings and scroll on through. It'll then test the connection, and should work..... Sorry hoped that helped didn't mean to be patronizing.

Since I only recently set up WiFi in my house, its the first proper time I've used my psp wirelessly (had it since September 2005, day after it launched in the UK, cause I'm cool ) and I must say I'm rather impressed. Initially the RSS thing was a little confusing, but once I got my head round it I've begun to enjoy it much more. Being honest I never really considered the psp as a truely "multimedia" device until now, but since I can stream podcasts straight to it, and download videocasts too its all started to come together. Hunting round means I've found all sorts of things that people have put up on RSS streams, especially in terms of video content. My favourite so far has been finding the Happy tree friends video cast, every single episode for free! I know there are all sorts of video cast lists about, I was just wondering whether anybody wanted to add them here as gleaming examples (podcasts too) Also, has anybody found anything new using the RSS thing? I've seen things that allow you to stream MP3s from your computer, but they look far too complicated for a "noob", don't even mention the word homebrew...

Agreed, the album art is a bit of a gimmick but it is cool to play around with. I get the pictures from CDWOW, and just do as you have said, gracenote is a real pain. Takes an age too.

Ok Ok Ok! Right, time for me to wade in here.... 1. To address the user friendliness of I-tunes, well, its not. The I-tunes setup is rubbish, and not to sound stupid or anything, but it took me an absolute age to figure out you had to press CTRL to highlight multiple songs and drag them into the Ipod. Sonic stage, you simply click on the album title, and press transfer. 2. Photo support on the nano is next to useless as for some stupid reason you can't preview them in I-tunes. 3. The battery life is crappy on all of them, I mean really poor. 4. They don't even have a search option using cover art, unlike my NWS-705, which is a really useful option (surprisingly for me, who thought it would be a gimmick) 5. The noise suppresion on my NWS kicks ass!!!! It even drowns out london traffic, trust me thats no mean feat. 6. I've never known anybody's Ipod last longer than 18 months. Full stop. Ever. My old NW-E505 is still going strong, not broken once after nearly 2 years of continual use. 7. People tend to always associate Ipod with MP3 player, but it wasn't the first. Sony was the first name in portable music with the Walkman, long before apple even existed. 8. Apple are so insistent you have an internet connection, and so big headed that they assume you already have Itunes, so don't even bother to package the CD with Itunes anymore with the nano. Cocky gits. 9. The world seems to run on Ipods, hell even the queen's christmas speech is being podcasted this year, but its a nice feeling to know that you use something different, and in my opinion superior. AND lets remember that Sony is a HUGE company, much bigger than apple with a much more diverse range of products to focus on too. Also pata, my NWS easily goes at least double your Ipod's battery life, and sounds better too.

Ah well, you win some you lose some.... I would have bought it from a sony shop if they didn't charge such ridiculous prices for the MS...

I bought it online yes, but its a (as far as I know) offical sony one. Came in proper sony packaging etc..and sonic stage recognises that its there but then just freezes before anything loads..

Yeah, you're right the PSP does have quite a good sound to it, with the right headphones. It should do though, considering Sony push it as a "Multimedia device"....

Ever since I had my first sony player, and sonic stage, I have tried to use my PSP with it. But they don't seem to like each other very much. I would love to use sonic stage with my PSP and its card as sonic stage does a rather fine job of squishing tunes, but whenever I press "USB connection" with SS running, SS decides to freeze until I eject the PSP. Bah!

Psst Nav, if you are still looking for that cover: Pearl Jam- Ten album art work Sorry if that's obviosuly obvious.. I tend to use WMP to put CDs onto my comp, and then import them into SS after. I have tried the "Search cover art /More Info" button and it hasn't worked once. Highly annoying.

Hi, I'm the newbie here Sonic Stage 4.2 is basically a bit pants at retreiving any form of album artwork. I haven't downloaded any songs as yet from Connect, but I suspect then it will show artwork. However, those (like me) who would like to use the album artwork thing on the NWS 700 series seem to be a bit stuck. In the end I copied a load of album covers from CDWOW and pasted them into the properties bit on an album. This works, and transfers the pictures to the player fine (dispite the picture being so bad as to make it nearly illegible). I just wanted to ask is there any way of getting the album art for albums without the palava of copying pictures from music sites? I know this feature is a bit of a gimmick in truth, but its fun to play around with things
