Folks, when I was stationed in northern Japan and travel down to Tokyo back in the late 90's (1996 to 1999), the amount of minidisc's would made you cry! The selection was off the chart, both minidisc's, pre-recorded minidisc's, portable minidisc units (player and player/recorder), car decks, MD changer for vehicles and home decks.

@smteacsmo, Pulled the site up, gathering data or information on what is I need. Thanks!

I have the Sony MZ-NH600D for recording only to minidisc, no issues with the unit at all and from my experience with this unit is 2006 and then some, the AA battery seems to last awhile. I have the MZ-RH910 and use in the vehicle only with AA battery pack. The MZ-NH600D maybe made of plastic; but, the unit is a worker. Now price wise, if you can get additional items and minidiscs with the purchase and the unit is in functional status. Good luck! Since Sony kill off the minidisc format, the supply is dropping and the demand is getting higher. I have a Apple 30GB & 80GB Classic, the 30GB has massive battery issues and the internal hard drive is failing. The 80 GB unit is showing the signs of battery only. I now some folks are going back to minidisc because of the internal battery and hard drive problems.

I looked local and nothing and ebay seems to be the only means

No hissing noise. Did you connect the headphones directly to the unit, without using the remote. See if the hissing noise is there, remember to lower the volume on the unit - not to blow the eardrums out. Also, try a different set of headphones as well! Another thing, take some dust off can air and lightly blow some air into the connections of the minidisc unit.

True. I have picked up when living in Japan some pre-recorded minidisc back in the late 90's. The best part going into a Japanese music store and finding vinyl, mini-disc and CD's never released in the United States.

This is only one found LIP-4WM is on eBay. Genuine from Japan Sony LIP-4WM Lithium Battery for Hi-MD. Looks like 9 available, it Buy it Now only option. Good Luck on the hunt!

I have the MZ-M200, MZ-NH600D and the MZ-RH910. When I do record/re-record to Hi-MD disk either the Blue or Black/Red version, I normally record all Hi-MD on the MZ-NH600D. The MZ-RH910 was made after the MZ-NH600D model, indications I have found is compatibility issue.

You can still get the blank minidiscs from eBay and Amazon sellers.

I have the MZ-M200 model and looking on eBay has the battery LIP-4WM 3.7v, 370mAh Li-ion battery for $58 not adding the shipping and handling. I should purchased a spare at the time I purchased the unit. The battery is in good condition; but, looking around comes up negative. Thinking eBay might be the only location and the battery is coming from Japan.

I have the MZ-M200, purchased it a while back. I either use it, the MZ-RH910 or MZN600D for recording in Hi-MD mode from the computer. I still prefer to you the regular home unit for recording. I do miss Japan, back in the day being stationed in Japan I picked up Sony MZ-R50 and Onkyo MD-185X minidisc recorder love it!

PayPal method of payment is better than putting the credit card information directly onto their website. Now coming from China, the biggest question is the quality of the LIP-4WM batteries. I ordered some batteries for my mobile flip phone; waited a little too long to test (my mistake), paid only a $3 a piece. I finally did a test and 1 battery would not charge or be recognized by the phone and the other would not hold charge. I took the loss in the long run.

The formats I prefer to use is and will be the minidisc format. I have the MP3 SanDisk and Apple iPod; but, the heart stays with minidisc. The biggest reason is the quality of the sound, storage and battery life (used AA batteries or the LIP battery supplied); whereas, the SanDisk and Apple internal battery fails the unit is at an end and storage as well. Minidisc, you can swap storage easily!
