yeah that's true but most of them are about 99p and then some extortionate postage fee...

Hi. What's the cheapest place to get some of these replacement 'ear cushions'. My local Sony centre sells a set for £10 and this website (http://www.headphoneworld.com/p/Replacement_Ear_Cushions_For_Sony_Headphones.htm) has them for £10 delivered. I want to pay what they're worth, not the extortionate prices listed everywhere! The only eBay options come from internationally and I'd like them as soon as possible... Any suggestions?

never really got round to gogin to the sony centre to bring this up but, last week, all sound from the left earbud went it would work without the extension wire so i'm assuming a fault in the extension wire was the cause but the wire is *tiny* so i went to the sony centre and they just said we're a private company and so can;t do anything and ring the retailer. rang the retailer who said ring sony. rang sony who said ring the retailer. after a half hour argument with play.com, i managed to score an exchange though i have to say, all the hassle is worth it for the noise cancelling and sound quality!!
-
where abouts are you?
-
stick with the bundled ones, they're the only ones which have NC but even if you don'y use that, the sound quality is pretty much impossible to surpass... save ur hard earned pennies!
-
finally got around to trying this nav... it's only worked on a few songs that had the problem but not others... so i'm assuming there's another cause of the songs playing as blanks as well...

OK these Sony price drops are getting ridiculous.... the NWS706 4GB is only £99 from SonyStyle UK website n that's crazy cheap. If it's gonna lose value that quickly then i'm not buying a sony again i mean i've never seen an ipod 45% below its recommended retail price... go figure
-
so there's no hope... i was just kinda hoping someone would creat a lil device like the nokia (ok maybe a lil different i.e. a female Sony NC inout to plug the headphones into and a male 'normal' output to plug into other devices) *here's hopin!*
-
lol i just left it on while i went for a shower when i first filled my 4gb nws706 up but i've not experienced it being particularly slow when adding stuff, even tho i convert to ATRAC
-
agreed!!! i feel this getting worse as I add more music!
-
imo its a matter of time before someone comes up with a converter. nokia caved into public demand and made the AD-15 headphone converter whilst I highly doubt Sony will produce one themselves, someone will... eventually. maybe one already exists....!! let me know, i'd be first to buy it!

completely agree Stuge... first of all I'd only had the walkman for little more than 2 weeks when i first noticed it becoming looser and breaking away... so hardly wear and tear and i've found the that the large earbuds are a little too larger and the medium ones a little too small but with the medium buds and the rubber surrounding together, the earphones fit quite nicely. without, the medium buds are loose in my ear still not had a chance to go to leeds sony centre, if anyone does, please update us as to what they offer. i will as soon as i get the chance

Yes I'm in the UK (around Leeds so near a Sony Center, will pop in if I get the chance soon) Reading this thread, I'm obviously not the only one, which in a way is a shame, the headphones form such an important part of the player that I can't even just say 'oh well', and get a new pair. The rubber bit hasn't been stretched as Shinji Ikeda described, because that's pretty much impossible unless it is removed, which I certainly haven't. After only a few weeks use, it's sort of disintegrated so some tears have formed around the edges, and like I said, only a few weeks use so its hardly wear & tear.... Not so happy with Sony anymore
-
Sorry, its not the buds I want.... They're available on eBay for £4.50 although I am in the UK This may sort of help explaining what the problem is.... The red highlighted bit is the rubbery bit which is falling apart and keeps coming off (although the pic isn't of the headphones that came with the NWS706)

I have the same problem. I get any missing album art from the internet (and manually add it) so if it doesn't transfer, I 'change' the album art (i.e. add the same pic from a different source). Sometime this works and annoying sometimes it doesn't. TBH I'm not sure its do with oixels or size... maybe some else does....

THANK you!!! I didn't think my description was very clear and I'm without a camera at the moment so I couldn't take a picture. I sort of see what you mean about noise insulation but I find if I don't push them back on before use, the earbuds feel a little looser in my ear... maybe it's just my imagination. Any way, I'll drop Sony an email with pictures to show what I mean and let you guys know how it goes! In the meanwhile if anyone else has any comments....... Thanks!

Those of you that have the NWS7xx series... you'll know what I'm talking about! The thin rubbery coating surrounding the large circular part of the earphone which goes in your ear is beginning to come off on my earphones. For some reason it started tearing and now it keeps coming off. its pretty rubbish cuz that's part of what forms the 'self' around ur ear to keep noise out any idea where i can get a replacement rubber bit or if i contact sony, whether they can provide replacements? thanks!

unless you like your music really REALLY loud
-
oooh similar problem! except, some of my files play fine if sent to the S706 as mp3s but play as blanks if converted to atrac first any solutions?
-
lol sounded too good to be true.... any other way to get round this?
-
is it really not worth it? even to save space...? unfortunately, my music collection is in MP3s so converting from CDs is not an option... can i not use ATRAC just to reduce file size?
-
is it possible to compare ATRAC3 and MP3 bitrates.... e.g. most og my MP3s are at 192kbps and some at 128kbps. I want them in ATRAC3 on my NWS706. What bitrate should I choose? Say I use ATRAC3 132kbps - is there any point as the 'loss' has already occured - if you know what I mean.....?!?
-
@DSP - are you sure?! I have the NWS706 and SonicStage won;t even play my DRMed WMVs, let alone transfer them..... on another note, i've noticed that some songs (mp3s on my PC) transfer but play back blank on the mp3 player - any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks!!!
