yeah thats what im gonna do, try the e500 with the s706 and hear how it sounds. but i dont want to go back to the s706 because of the clunky interface, and especially after using the a808 that will be much harder.

yeah i have been having problems with ablum art too. when i play it on ss it is diplayed and even as on the album listing when searching by artists. but when i play the song there is no album art. any ideas anyone?

i was just going through head-fi and the initial impressions of the westone 3 are really interesting. almost everyone who has listened to it agrees that they are darker than most and they have very deep bass without muffling other parts of the frequency range. it seems that it was supposed to be released on the 21st but there has been sevral delays. im definitely lookin at these headphones to suppliment my se530 and hopefully they will produce something nice and warm!

ive listened to the a808 with the se530 for well more than 50 hours, and i have to say that while it is a definite imprevement over the supplied head phones it is still not as warm as the s706f. that said the 530 has tremendous amount of detail and you will definitley go through entire library just to hear things you never thought where there. the 530s also grow on you and you slowly appreciate the accoustic clarity. but it is still a "cold" headphone and i prefer warm ones. i think i will go back to the s706 ( saw a couple real cheap on ebay ) or i might have to get a warmer headphone. but im keeping my 530 cause they really are good headphones.

i also recommend imtoo psp video converter, though you will have to purchase the full version.

i would recommend the a808 if youa re into watching videos, but if you are looking for something that has excellent SQ then i recommend the s706.

i too wanted to get an ipod after i sold my s706, because of the clunky controls. but i did a sq test againt the a808 and there was no way i was going to get the ipod. i value sound more than looks and so i have to put up with ss, but you do get used to it i guess. and i hope, along with you that sony really releases a ipod killer!

i wonder if you took a look at ebay? they generally mark " low priority" on the parcel so it can go through customs. so far it has worked for me. may be you should give it a go?

im sure you did no permanent damage to your ears as the exposure was on;y a couple of seconds. only prolonged exposure to high decible sounds is likely to cause damage. so enjoy your music!!

does the SCR-NWU3 work with the a808 as well?

does any one else wish that the connecting wire of the ACNWUM50 could have been longer? it can be irriatating to find that it is a couple of inches short of a table.

my se530 just arrived. currently playing around with the EQ to get the sound more like the s706. will post back with the results.

well from your experience it looks like i too will be disappointed. at this point SQ is paramount and i even considered buying the hd5. there was a dh5h for sale here but it was kinda expensive. does any one know if the hd5 sounds more like the s706?

congrats on your re-purchase!! how does your a808 sound now? does it sound nice and warm with rich and deep bass? i have all my stuff encoded in mp3 @ 320 kbps. yes i heard that the 530s tend to really bring out the details a lot more. i would like to encode them in atrac but it is time consuming. any idea how long it would take to re-encode a 76 gb library?

i find that having cb: 3 and +2,+2,1,0,0 is the closest to the souns that i preder. however the a808 just doesnt come near the the s706 when it comes to sound quality

how does this compare to the nw-A808 in terms of sound quality? also is does it come with the remote? i heard that you need it.

well it was imported from japan but it does display english but the manuels are in japanese. any way i believe it has 1 year waranty but that is only in japan so i will have have to mail it back to the seller, ( who said that he would be happy to get it fixed) if there is any problem(!). but it is working flawlessly

well im just confused now. i just ordered my se 530 and im awaiting its arrival!! talk about bad timing. now that you mention the um2s i read on the head-fi that the westone 3 is coming out on the 21 of this month and that it completely smashes the um2s!! with regard to SQ this couldnt have been a more confusing month for me!!

wow you actually go all the way up to 20? i find that 15 is too much for my ears. i guess i wont be needing the volume hack any time soon!!

well i guess that makes 2 of us then!! i feel that the bass is really lacking when compared to the s706, which i had earlier and im really regretting selling that off.i tried playing aroung with the eq but the improvements are really small and it doesnt make the bass punchy like it is in the s706 im hoping that getting better quality phones will remedy the problem.
