There is always a choice for the 16 GB NW-919 walkman, which is pretty power packed for music enjoyment, i can't find another dap that can come closer to NW-919 for music enjoyment, though at some point Sony has to sell a 16Gb dap worldwide anyway, but Ebay and Yesasia can always import that NW-919 for anyone right now as well, waiting time is about few weeks

I can't read Japanese, but i have got a Japanese friend who is a walkman collector. He is not in japan right now, but he wants the NW-919/BI model and NW-S71X, so he has read many reviews from other Japanese consumers who have brought walkman that came with the software, in particular nobody said anything bad about manager for Walkman software. It's great without complaint, of course different people have different standard of what's great, but it doesn't bring the kind of trouble and BS that other SS users have said before, so it should be kind of alright

After all that the PSP Slime and Lite is selling very well, i have read so many good figures from pspfanboy.com

Wireless is definitely a great way to enjoy your music. I have brought my walkman and bluetooth headphones from www.yesasia.com. Btw they have those so called Japan only walkmans such as NW-S71X and NW-A91X, with all those softwares and nice stock earphones. That's one way to get bluetooth stuff, walkman and other stuff if you want

i don't think that NWZ-S61X sounds better than the NWZ-A81X and NW-A80X, i have heard all three players already, though i don't own the two NWZ-S and A players, my friends all went for the non atrac players as soon as they came out. NW-A1000 is history, its sq is only acceptable..... I think NW-A91X is one good dap to look forward to in japan and it beats S610 100%

China is not really a PSP market. Wii, Xbox360 and playstation range are sold in other parts of the world, but companies don't take China as a market for consoles. Companies can have many reasons, but that does explain PSP actually is not a threat or a choice over any other portable players in China. So i guess it doesn't hurt much to introduce a player that looks like a PSP. This player to tell you the truth, it is soooo like a PSP, except the buttons are on the sides, one of the Chinese dudes in my class has got one, i have tried Chinese brand Meizu player from him as well. Meizu is crap, really crap, but it's number one Chinese brand MP3. However this Sony P player operated very well, well look it's really just a PSP in different colors and no game and internet functions. The dude obviously brought one of the combo thingy with NC-22 earphones. I would say the SQ comes closer to NW-A8XX series (tried with NC-22), better than HD5, would that make it better than NW-A1000 as well? Decent Bass, low and mid-range are enjoyable and not disappinting at all, cause i thought nothing you can trust if it's like from China, good clarity is too obvious to miss out. I let the Chinese dude tried my Sony Walkman, well my walkman did put the Meizu player in shame. I would also say in China consumers are more into mobile phone, PC gaming and MP3/MP4 (yeah whatever MP4). This player if sold internationally, it's going get labelled as copycat of PSP, but in China PSP isn't everybody's liking and focus. i won't buy it, since i don't need one, but it wasn't bad to try it, maybe next P player will have better individual look

I don't know what's your requirement for a good portable device, but i only use Sony walkman. However now you have mentioned about the Meizu player, i would really say even ipod is a better purchase than that Chinese copycat Meizu, even though i wouldn't buy ipod for certain. i mean Meizu in Chinese means something like trendy or modern group(race), i got that from google anyway, but it's just a piece of junk. Its price is 50% cheaper than Sony walkman in China, that's why people can afford it, yeah i guess if we talk in terms of Meizu VS Samsung, or what's a better alternative from buying Meizu, then Samsung of course is a much better choice over the Meizu, Meizu is being called the Chinese clone of ipod and other brands of dap. I have listened to Meizu before, cause there were Chinese guys in Uni with Meizu player, i tried it, it was terrible compare to any other dap which i have heard so far, the sound quality was shocking, the control wasn't as smooth as what you imagine it to be, unless you really do want to support the "Number one" Chinese dap, then in Singapore i am sure that you can find something better than Meizu

great review, i do like walkman and samsung dap much better compare to other brands. i don't like the crap sound of ipod, though i wouldn't stop anybody else supporting it, cause either they don't care about sq or they really do feel the sq of ipod is impressive, our ears can be very different......thanks for the comment dura, i totally agree

this is a great player, 16GB, NC, battery, alright design, plus heaps more of stuff. but i do like the NW-A800/NWZ-A810 better for the design style, these japan only walkmans are really impressive

walkman is pretty good, i think non atrac walkman may make u less pissed, cause they provide drag and drop, u don't have to deal with atrac and ss anymore, though there are people who really do appreciate atrac and ss. u can just read some reviews on the player before ur purchase, those reviews will tell u how crap the software is, then they will tell u that u can't see the screen under the sun, also menu isn't like ipod, those reviews wanna go hard on sony, but then u will know better whether this is the kind of walkman that u need, or maybe some other brands maybe better for u

In particular hk, china, tw all have the NWD-B models right now, hk has better price and get things quicker too compare to nearby regions (except japan).

walkman is better for music function than psp, beside of that psp is indeed somewhat pretty good all in one device

that's definitely the practice of sony and other companies dude, the point is that they need to do more for us and europe regions. for example some of other Asia countries such as china, hongkong, taiwan and korean get looked after pretty well by sony. The shift is dramatic during last few years of their focus point for their market, as what we have heard from their press news, they do plans here and there in Asia countries beside of japan. NW-S71x is just too good, i certainly don't mind another NC sony player get released into europe and us regions.

It seems that on the page they both come with 「SonicStage CP」「Media Manager for WALKMAN」「WALKMAN Launcher」（CD-ROM）. Also MP3 128kbps for 33 hrs playback and ATRAC 132kbps for 30 hrs playback. If you can get your hands on the S710 range, that can be a good purchase for this year.

I guess if Sony doesn't suit somebody's need, then they are allowed to move to another brand, also they are allowed to say whatever about Sony. Then there are people who are still cool with walkman, so they are allowed to defend i guess. The race part talk i guess you wouldn't get it if you are not from Asia, or sort of knowing the Asian culture. you see Japanese is very proud of their honor and pride, but the point is Raj must have thought Thefanboy is a japanese, so he got in talking about culture thing. Koreans are even more like that....ok i better not go too deep about culture now. I like the NW-S718, this S700 range is so attractive, i like it over ipod and samsung

sony certainly gives Asia region more choices and attention as what we have seen during this year and the past. you can tell just by the investment amount and their long term plans. Great NC player, but i do like the NWZ-A and S player as well. They also mentioned about MDR-EX90SL with the NW-S610 and S710, does it mean these two players come with MDR-EX90SL? it's all in japanese, can somebody confirm it? also the NC on and off switch of NW-S710 is well designed

You see the only problem is this- you may not have a problem if Sony doesn't update, plus some other loyal Atrac users may not have any issues with it, but many many many other new and old Walkman users will have issues about why Sony doesn't update on Sonicstage, why Atrac never get developed further ? Then people will get furious over these stuff and Sony will be forced to do something, this pulls Sony back into the Sonicstage and Atrac years again. Many users want to be set free from Sonicstage and Atrac, so does Sony too Sony is a big company, once they give you something, they have to update it and develop it, they can't just ignore it, they have put in so much into this Sonicstage and Atrac as Walkman's software and format, but in the end it's not working out. It's hard to keep everybody happy, so any company will choose to do what majority of consumers want, that's drap and drop, trouble free, plenty of people have never even heard of Atrac. So no more Sonicstage and Atrac, no more nasty comments

It's just impossible for Sony to do that, it's easier for people to actually just use other formats and softwares rather than Sonicstage and Atrac. How many people truly depend on Atrac anyway......? It's about putting an end onto Sonicstage and Atrac, it's not as simple as what u imagine it to be, Sony doesn't want any future Walkman to have anything to do with Sonicstage and Atrac anymore, that's the point that Sony wants you to know. Do you know that it takes money and time to continue the support of Sonicstage and Atrac, and these certain investment doesn't bring Sony anything good? Sony wouldn't do this if Sonicstage and Atrac can bring them profit and selling points, instead they have brought Sony too much trouble ever since when Sony tried to battle in the DAP market. Sony wished that everyone can be like you Rob, very loyal to Atrac, but unfortunately most people just got turned off by Sonicstage and Atrac

Sonicstage will still operate if you click on it, just like Connect software can be used still. I guess there were too many signs that sooner or later Sonicstage and Atrac would be gone, there are just too many people who don't want to stick with it, i mean comon Sonicstage and Atrac are fun, at least there are some people who are willing to use it. Atrac is a good format, it gives you many hours of good SQ music, it's just a shame not too many people appreciate this, they want to use some other formats and call Sony "A control freak".......So now Sony gives up the Atrac control and let you do whatever now. Good move ceres you have set yourself free and it's a mature move. Samsung, NWZ, ipod....ok pretty good choices, at least they don't carry so much trouble compare to the Sonicstage years.

I think the reason why Sony doesn't want to use Atrac and Sonicstage anymore, it is all because too many comsumers, reviews and the whole DAP market just don't accept Atrac and Sonicstage. It's tough for Sony to hang on in the market with something that most people dislike. I have read too many reviews and forums that have said nasty things about Atrac and Sonicstage......If Sony allows Atrac and Sonicstage to continue as what you has suggested, then there is never going to be an end for Atrac and Sonicstage. So this certain change certainly hurts Atrac fans the most, maybe it's time to try different brands.....

That's actually a pretty nice player, Sony has done it right this time also with drag and drop function. I really do look forward to the S players, maybe next time they will have NC function added to it
