That's not necessarily a good thing. It depends on what it's going to be replaced *with*... Considering Sony's track record, I'd rather have them stick with and improve what they already have... (lest we forget the Connect Player debacle... )
-
In-store only, if there's any left...
-
Anyone know if there's an MP3 File Manager that can be used with the S20x series walkmans? (doesn't necessarily have to be sony, 3rd party ok too...)
-
So, what do we think are the chances of us getting a firmware update on these 70x's to allow for custom display screens like the E50x series? ...and when? =D
-
Rubber seals, I assume you mean those pieces that go in your ear, that you can switch sizes with between S, M and L? If so, you can probably drop by a Sony Store in your area and they (usually) have replacements available on hand for free... (Well, mine does anyway... I have to pick up a set of smalls actually since my eBay sender decided that the Mediums it comes with will suffice for me...) ...if you're not referring to those, and to the pieces a bit behind those that sort of "strap" around the larger driver unit thing, well, apparently you're not the only one whose been having issue with that if you look through some of the recent topics...
-
I understand that The "issue" is with the fact that they cannot be used with anything *other* than the mp3 player, just for the sake of using them as normal non-noise canceling headphones. If you have a perfectly good pair of headphones, it's a bit of a pain to have to go buy another pair of headphones for "other" uses, as well as carry 2 pairs of headphones with you all the time... I don't really see what the major issue would be... Perhaps there would be *some* sound quality loss, but it can't be all that substantial that it would completely make them unusable... As for the process, it's simply matching up the wires... Insulation would be a bit of an issue between the lines, but i'm sure it's doable... insulating it from the outside can probably be done with some polymorph like substance...

There should be a reset button on it, get a pin and try that. Try a different computer as well, possibly software issue on the PC. If that fails, return and exchange before the 30 day exchange policy the store probably has runs out...

When you say, "hurt", I'm assuming you don't mean physical pain? (I'm assuming that due to the fact that the 705's headphones aren't physically shaped like anything close to those of the previous models, and happen to be soft...) Going by that assumption, did you try toying with the ear piece sizes or equalizer settings, perhaps? (its a long shot, but maybe Sony's headphones are putting something through that the others aren't, but that may be adjusted...)

Something I've been thinking about while this puppy's being shipped, is the minor inconvenience of the headphones only working with this particular player... I mean these are relatively good headphones, even without the noise cancellation, and it's a bit of a waste for a good pair of headphones to be so limited... I doubt sony's got a "converter cable" that can be used to adapt the jack to a standard jack, but that said, it can't be very hard to make one... These players actually come with an extension cable, so you don't even have to risk screwing up the headphones themselves... (of course, you're probably better off with an extra extension cable, the headphone cable itself is pretty short...) I'm thinking if one was to slice the extension cable at the middle, it should be relatively easy to find the leads required just for playback, and to work them into a standard headphone cable... (how you keep them together and sealed is up to your creative mind... )

I started a thread along these lines back when I got my NW-E507 a bit over a year ago, and while the S706F is being shipped, I'm wondering if there's any improvement for it to support unicode? I know the E507 unfortunately didn't (not Hebrew characters, anyway)... If anyone perhaps has an S70x model, perhaps someone wants to run a test for me and try to get it to display this on the player? " שלום " Thanks
-
Indeed, I thought it was just one near my area, which is when I grabbed a bunch and start selling them on eBay haha... Turns out it is indeed all over though, most are sold out by now though... (of 706F models anyway... The place I went to had a bunch of 706F's open box, and gave me a further discount down to $135 CDN for them... Yeah, that's the 4 gig model... ...)

If it's the rubber removable earpieces you're talking about, you can probably walk into a sony store and they'll give 'em to you (I did it more than once with my old headphones that used similar earpieces...)
-
Any particular suggestions? =D
-
Oh wow, didn't notice this forum at all, thanks! =)

(added 2 gig model)

Odd, I could have sworn that edit button wasn't there before... Maybe I wasn't logged in =/ Scratch that then...

Up for sale, a whole slew of brand new Sony Flash players, warranty included... enjoy =) (S706) http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=330098303134 (S706) http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...p;rd=1&rd=1 (E005) http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...p;rd=1&rd=1 (S203) http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...p;rd=1&rd=1 (S705) http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...p;rd=1&rd=1

Agreed, for an on-the-road use, they aren't bad at all... My only issue with such units was traditionally the battery drain, but if the sonys can run ~10 hours video then that's pretty sufficient...
-
E-5xx Series are all USB 1.1, not 2.0, which started with the A-6xx series...
-
There's indeed no noise cancellation on the NW-S6xx series walkmans... And they don't have an FM tuner either... =/
-
Ooh, so my idea should work? If I take a different color inside cover, I'll be able to get (say) a pink or green cover with blue text underneath...?
-
I'm not sure if the 003 acts the same way when it comes to power saving as the 507, but on the 507, the highest power saving removes the "flicker" it creates every few seconds on the screen to let you know the player is running... the middle power saving mode has the main display dissappear after a few seconds and "flicker" every few seconds after that, and the lowest mode keeps the display on at all times...

Intresting, does this mean that if I upload hebrew-compatible firmware it'd show the hebrew characters? English would still work? On the same note, Sony doesn't really have an Israeli presence... (only ericsson does...)... Anyone know of a region who'se firmware could possibly support hebrew? =/
-
indeed it is, or i'm fairly sure it is anyway... it cuts off on mine as well, so that's like the case across the board ^^

if u copy a folder into it, it will create a "group", and u can move songs within the list or folders by dragging them (when you drag them in, in the first place, they get copied and go to the last spot, and u can then drag them to a different position...)
