  1. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats. Be sure to post impressions when you've had a little time with it
  2. Anthony, I just checked the user manual, and there is absolutely nothing at all about recording from the TV, do you think it's only the Japanese models that can do it??
  3. Hi Anthony, yes I remember that conversation, it seems like years ago! I'd forgotten all about it, but I can check for you. sxc - no on-the-fly playlists again!
  4. If it wasn't for hasp123's link, I wouldn't have thought to check John Lewis. Thank you hasp123 ShanieAIBO, so I have one from Japan? Nice! I feel so special
  5. Anthony, the A808 is more classy looking, I agree, it's really one of a kind. Still haven't come across a Sony dap that looked or felt better than the A808! Okay, so my really initial impressions are that the ZX is more powerful than the A808 and the Touch 2G, it has a lot more authority. Whether that's good or not, I don't know yet, 'cos I've only tested 2 tracks with each dap. But whichever website (was it Geek?) said it was cold and digital sounding, well, that's not what I'm hearing at all. It's warm, warmer than the A808 and the Touch. But I need to listen for longer to get more of a feel for the sound. One thing's for sure, it doesn't really sound like any other Sony I've heard. And by that, I mean it would be easy to identify it as a newcomer Shirley, I don't know why I'm not surprised at your Sony info. They still don't have a clue what's going on. There is no first wave. The liar at Sony sales said both warehouses would send stock out on the same day, the 19th. Oh, and the Sony isn't on the shelves in John Lewis, go up to the 5th floor and then go to the main counter on the left. They're hiding the boxes behind there!
  6. I've just been charging it for a while, but I'm about to transfer some music over and take a listen! The screen is totally covered in fingerprints already, which makes it bit hard to 'swipe' the screen, so I think I really need a screen protector. My Touch protector is great, never gets greasy and is very swipable
  7. A bit more!! The dandruff effect that looked pretty gross in the pics doesn't look nearly as bad in real life. It's only on the sides so you can't see it from the front anyway. But it does feel like dry rough old skin, although I'll no doubt get used to it. Oh, and the screen feels like thinck plastic!
  8. I HAVE THE NEW SONY IN MY HANDS!!! Hey all, I just got back from John Lewis and picked up the 32GB model. For some reason they're 'hiding' them behind the counter, and Sony sales just told me it's not in stock yet - even though I have one right here!!!!!!!!! I'll take better pics later, I'm just going to charge it up first. It's way smaller and lighter than the Touch!!
  9. OMG! I'll never believe another Sony sales person ever again! I just checked the link and it says 'in stock'!!
  10. Anthony, the guy I spoke to said there were 1700 left after the 3400 pre-orders had been accounted for, and there were another 4000 on order, so I guess there'll be enough to go round. And it would be amazing if you could get to use it on the way home!
  11. After all the horrible delays, it's a really nice bonus to hear it's being released a little bit earlier. The difference between 19th May and 31st May is an eternity, so I'm glad I don't have to wait that long And the guy I spoke to is the only Sony person I've ever spoken to that convinced me he knew what he was talking about. He didn't flap around sticking me on hold while he went to ask someone else. He just checked the details for the model number and then gave me all the info, so I believe him. I do!!!!!!!!
  12. You can ignore that post. It's not true according to Sony sales. I just called them and was given a definite release date of 19th May. He seemed to know what he was talking about, and he checked both GB warehouses, GB60 (for SonyStyle) and GB20 (for PC World, Comet, etc), and said that they've already got 3400 pre-orders out of 5100 units with another 4000 on order. SonyStyle is due to get it on May 19th and he insisted that no one (unless they ordered it from outside the UK) would be getting it before SonyStyle. So it looks like it's out next week... or not Still, I can count!! SEVEN DAYS AND COUNTING............
  13. This article says the Sony is due to be released TOMORROW - MAY 13th!!!!!!!!!! Sony Confirms X Series Walkman Launch Date & RRP - MP3 News - TrustedReviews
  14. 21 days and counting... This is the third countdown I've started, so this one had better be right, third time lucky?
  15. I don't know for sure, but I'm fairly confident there'll be no 'on-the-fly' playlists. After SS was scrapped (outside Japan), loads of good things went with it, so I don't think this will be any different to the other non-SS models unfortunately.
  16. I just checked the Sony UK site and it says the X1000 is shipping at the end of May. So I imagine if Sony has the shipping date listed - it must be true!! http://www.sony.co.uk/product/nws-x-series/nwz-x1060 Now I can start again with my calendar. 26 days and counting... dura - the concert will be magnificent!
  17. I watched a video clip of it earlier, and it definitely only looks dandruffy on the sides. The screen looks beautiful, the Engadget guy said it was even better than the Cowon S9 screen (which I've never seen), but it sounds like a huge compliment. But we still know very little about the sound Anthony, the CD is Leonard Cohen (who I didn't used to care for at all, but that's because I thought he only had one song lol!!!). Anyway, the guy's 74 and is on a world tour right now. The CD is from the concert and it's quite brilliant.
  18. Okay everyone, here is what we know for sure... the new hands-off with Sony will be released on May 10th - and then again on May 24th - and yet again on May 31st. So long as we are all clear now
  19. Hey dura, I guess it depends on preference. With the A829 I had a mix of AAC at the highest bitrate and mp3 vbr -V 0 (also at the highest bitrate). Having changed daps a few times, I've settled for mp3 vbr -V 0 because it plays on everything, and WAV/PCM for all live albums, including T-H-E double CD of the year
  20. I was just doing my normal thing, you know, obsessively looking for updated release dates - and I found this... http://www.bennettsonline.co.uk/product.as...ttsSKU=06819225 ... with an expected release date of 24th May. So I'm going to latch onto that date until I know otherwise. I can dream
  21. Anthony, the Touch 2G is really not bad and it's grown on me quite a lot. I just find it awkard to take out and about because although it's not huge - it's still bulky compared to any Sony I've used. And if you buy something now, aren't you still going to be curious about the Sony when it's released in seventeen years time??
  22. Hey guys, I can't click on any of the links that show the video of the imaginary Sony player. When I click on the link, it just opens up a 'still' photo of the player, there's no video. Please can someone provide me with a working link to the latest video footage so I can see what will probably never get released??? Shirley, I could give up everything on the Touch so long as the Sony can at least do email!! And I too am using an amp with the line out on the Touch and it sounds amazing - but it's not as portable as the Sony, and I do love how small and lightweight Sony daps are. But all this confusion about what we're getting, when we're getting it etc, is really beginning to irritate me. If Sony hasn't even implemented a decent browser, then the new model is hardly going to be a rival for the Touch. Steve Jobbs will be laughing his boxer shorts off!! But I still want it
  23. Ascariss, did you mean to use the US date format above? Or is it the UK format which means 5th June? Sorry if the answers's obvious, but I am so totally confused now about the dates, I can't think straight
  24. No!!! It doesn't come out as one song. You just rip the CD in WAV, transfer the tracks to the Sony - and you'll get all the individual tracks played back exactly as the CD, without gaps. But you'll still be able to select separate tracks The specs I've seen are from the 'journaldegeek' site (think there's a link in this thread a few pages back) - but supported audio formats seem to the usual suspects we've seen on previous Sony's, so no change that I can see
