Oops, double post. Strange things are afoot, a cheesy foot - on this the day of three different release dates

No, it won't support gapless playback, at least not from the specs I've seen. But with 32GB available, it's enough room for me to be able to put at least 10 albums on in WAV, and still leave enough room for everything else I want on it, with around 5GB to spare. So the lack of gapless doesn't bother me because I can just get round it that way. I just thank the Sony God it can play WAV!

I don't understand what's going on! The 30th is just thirteen days away!!!!!!!!!!!! It's weird that there have been 3 changes of date in the past few hours, once on Amazon and twice at Play.com. Now I'm more confused than ever

No nothing at all. They dont charge the card until the goods are dispatched and you always have the option of cancelling an order before it's gone through the dispatch process anyway, no fees incurred at all. But worryingly, I just got an email through from Amazon, saying: Last update was for a release date of 10th May, so if Sony have delayed that by another couple of days, then how come Play.com is listing the release date as April 30th? What's going on???

Ha ha, sorrreeeeeee! I just happened to check Amazon for an update and saw that crappy news! Now I'm wondering if that's a firm release date, since it doesn't say it's 'estimated' to be released then, but who knows? You don't want to hold out for the Sony? I know it's another 2 months away, wow, that's AGES!! But we've managed to kill a couple of months already gossiping about the tiniest details, I'm sure we can pass another couple of months in the same way, ha ha. No, seriously, I don't blame you for getting the Cowon. If it's released on Monday, at least you can get it immediately and not have to wait around for the Sony.

Kafkef, I can watch video clips from BBC and ITN on the Touch, is that format different to youtube video?

Hey Shirley, the iPoop Touch can't show flash content either, it has nothing to do with videos. I can watch youtube videos or any other video on it. I think (can't be sure) that certain sites don't display in the correct format without flash content. I brazenly copied this from the link below http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8963192 So don't worry about the Sony not supporting it either. I haven't yet found a problem with the lack of Flash content.

Oh, I didn't think to put it for sale here! I would have done on Atraclife. I just didn't think to put it here because I didn't even know there was a For Sale forum If there is, where is it?? dura: It's not so much that I'm an optimist (although I am!!) - it's just that my music collection has outgrown 16GB, so I'm forever deleting stuff to put new stuff on. Oh, I love it when the little details start appearing I'll go post the link on Head-Fi now, see if anyone can figure out more about the internet browser thingy. And yeah, we knew it had radio, but actually, I'd forgotten until you mentioned it again, ha ha.

Anthony, I just called the Sony centre in Chelsea and actually talked to someone who was helpful. I know!! Helpful! Anyway, he said they have an 'unconfirmed' release date of April in the UK. Hmmmmm. And on a sour note - I noticed my 808 ran out of juice after 6 hours today, despite the fact it was fully charged in the cradle, and then switched off! I only charge it in the cradle, so maybe you can eliminate one of your other devices as being the 'discharging' culprit. I wondered if I'd left the Sony on, but I hadn't, because if it's left playing, the 'welcome' message doesn't pop up, which it did

Hi Shirley, yes, I'd like to know more about the wi-fi part of it too. I can't fault the Safari browser on the iPoop, the whole experience is very rewarding, and although it can't take the place of my laptop - it's really useful to have around when the laptop's switched off. Last year, I was able to sit in the garden, listen to music - and get sound alerts if any emails came through! But we don't really know anything at all about the ZX browser, or the on-the-fly downloading facilities, in fact, we don't know much at all. As for Amazon pushing back dates, my friend ordered a Sony DVD recorder in November 2007 (a month after I got mine.) He got an availablility notice of 2/3 weeks... well, it finally showed up 6 months later in May!!! I really hope the ZX doesn't keep changing dates

Oooh yeah!! Nice point in Sony's favour, kafkef! I think everyone hates the Apple stock buds, even devoted Apple fans. At least the Sony is a complete package with decent earphones that don't need upgrading unless you're just fussy. It sounds great straight out of the box. The Touch 'package' needs to be upgraded immediately to start getting a halfway decent sound out of it. I think it's a smart move that Sony supply their high-end daps with decent earphones. They know it sounds good, so why ruin first impressions by giving them a crappy pair of earphones that can't possibly do it justice? And without the need to upgrade the phones, the Sony actually works out cheaper than the Touch. One nil to Sony

No, you're not missing anything. I got my iPod Touch from Amazon when it was £262, so I was basing it on that. Hmmm, so it's now priced exactly the same as the Touch, not a penny more, not a penny less.

The 16GB is available to pre-order from Amazon too now. I think the price is okay, my 16GB A829 cost £209 when I bought it, and now the Touchscreen version is only £5 more. The 32GB version is £20 more than the 32GB iPod Touch, but it's still not as expensive as I thought it would be. EDIT: Hey, maybe the image is gone because they're about to get them in stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already pre-ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk last week. They have a dispatch date (from Sony) for 2-5 weeks. Did you see the link earlier in the thread???? When I first pre-ordered mine, there was no dispatch time given, but within a couple of days, my order had been updated with an estimated delivery date of March 5th to March 25th.

Anthony, I sure as hell hope it fits my audio cradle! When you talk about dimensions, do you mean the thickness of the actual dap? I know the cradle has that adjuster which pulls in and out depending on how fat or skinny the player is. Or do you mean the dimensions of the port? Sorry to ask such a silly question, actually, no, I'm not sorry. I always ask silly questions KittyKat81: Welcome to the bandwagon!! Where are you based? I don't think a summer release was ever mentioned for the UK.
