it's more like the 'whine' of a power suply rather than the 'hum' of a disk platter imo

Sony VAIO Pocket VGF-AP1L Pictorial
atrain replied to Ishiyoshi's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
i just got 15 hours of continuous listening to 128k mp3 audiobook files with battery to spare. -
just for those who may have this problem how 'bout an answer? i'm assuming it's because they had no id3 tags so sonicstage put them in unfiled. you can see unfiled albums in 'album view' in sonicstage, they apear with no details at the bottom of the list.
-
dammnit. i was just about to check for you & found i don't even own an A -> A anymore. i take it you've also upgraded to sonicstage 3.2 to take advantage of the drm removal on new imported music & have also downloaded the newest firmware for the pocket?
-
i like text. plain text at a choice. i'm a simple man whose eyes get sore after 10-15+ hours of pc use a day.
-
anyway i've always been a remote person with md & i'm having a real problem with the rm-vsc2 remote included with vaio pocket. with small or even no screens on a lot of md stuff the remote gave access to all the deeper functions along with the at hand control rather than grab the player from a bag or pocket. as such the vaio having a sony style remote really won me over - one of the many things my ipod can't do. my disappointment with the vsc2 is in it's squishy impresice buttons & the fidly way too many [imo] functions are implemented on each button. a strong backlight & three lines don't make the average UI bearable for me. i'm currently using an rmc 11el that will control volume, skip forward/back, ff/rew pause on the remote changes the eq settings & play/mode & rpt/ent both go up a level in the menu - these are the only two that bring the 'remote under operation' screen on the main player. nothing is displayed on it's one line screen.
-
it means it's going to delete the files on the atrac player but not the ones on the pc. yu'll just have to let it do it's thing then copy the library parts you want on there back over. it's not too scary.
-
import them into sonicstage 3.2 don't fret if nothing apears to be happening & ss apears not to be responding - just walk away for awhile. when they've imported right click them a bunch [album?] at a time my advice is atrac3+256kbs make sure the drm is not included with the file. voila! before doing this make sure your id3 tags are done properly btw
-
yeah it uses the same openmg secure module as sonicsatge & md simple burner
-
with connect.com offering 3.2 purchased songs should now transfer
-
right, i'm going to buy some. excellent review leon. just out of interest anyone know if the other colours have any change in the wire thickness, ala ex71 white/black?
-
drm = digital rights managment 3.2 offers you the option of any new files imported to not have this, meaning you can store the omg files like you would mp3s - move them to another computer, back them up manualy rather than via sonicstage, just have more control over your music.
-
it's slightly better an option than the 'pocket shuffle'
-
my advice is to update to 3.2 anyway, if only so the new music you import won't have the drm restrictions anymore, so you'll be able to put any music imported into 3.2 onto a back up. there shouldn't be any problems running two devices off sonicstage, afaik they can even be plugged in at the same time.

i'd been wanting one since you put a single photo on the tboard. took me about a year to actually get one when to my pleasure i found that the price had dropped to an amazing extent. i'm using ss3.2, atrac 256 & mp3 cbr at 192-256 with d22 eggos, ex71 & ath-a500s. awesome!

once a mac zealot always a mac zealot imo, there's a tinge of paranoid-brand-defensive-conspiracy-theorist to that review

i'm currently at 75% atrac3+ 256 , 20% various high rate mp3s & the rest in 192 atrac3+ which is fine although is as obviously different to 256 as 256 is to 320 - the bitrates seem far more different than mp3s at similar gapped bitrates to me **** i've decided to use spellcheck for awhile, my spelling is average at best. lucky i'm still paying attention or all this talk of nitrates might prove both confusing yet benificial to any suffering angina

the diference between good & acurate never struck me as a moral one L.
-
honestly, once again you went over my head. i'll reread your original post again & work out where i'm missing the point. bangraman, have you spent anytime lstening to ATRAc3+ at 320kbs?
-
fits in with bangraman's concern that the hd5 was only voted best sounding mp3 player due to sounding good rather than accurate. http://phonephile.blogspot.com/2005/06/hd5s-got-secret.html

the ex71 in white have a slightly thicker plastic coating on the wires. it may make a dif. in product life as some users have reported that wiring in the cable, rather than at the conection points on the bud has broken. as for pics i meant more IRL pics of the pdair rather than you posing with a tote. i have a rounded life outside of the internet & have even seen attractive ladies in the street before. -
great pics leon.
