Read this thread: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=72 See if anything there can help you out.

I suggest taking your MD unit to a sony repair center. My best guess is something is wrong with the laser, maybe it is dirty or out of alignment. Try cleaning the laser first, but more likely you'll need to get the thing repaired.
-
Do you have Direct X 8.0 installed? If not, trying installing that first.
-
lol it feels like I'm following mystyler around telling you not to do multiple posts...once again, go to the NetMD forum and look there. And yes...DON'T DO MULLTIPLE POSTS!
-
Damn, that's cool! This is getting stickied!

So in other words if you power a mic can you hook the mic into the line in jack and record? Answer: yes, but test it before you try to make a live recording. Oh, and I'm moving this to the live recording thread. Thank you, come again!

Help. Can I connect my MZN1 to a win95 USB supported PC?

rgh double posting is bad. Go look at the other spot you posted on the NetMD forum; I wrote a response there already. I imagine this forum's moderator will delete this entry soon, so refer to the NetMD forum post in the future if you want to follow this thread. -
Dude the DR7 looks so much cooler than the minidisc player shown in that picture...it looks like a bad hub cap design! Personally, I like the simple and straightforward look of MD units; to me, the silver MZ-N10 looks really cool. Functional yet sleek, not flashy.

Terrorize PC shops? Sounds like story time, please tell! Linda, sorry to hear you have a problem with your coworkers, I hope you can get whatever problems you have taken care of. Although Aidix's method is likely better, an easier method is to plug headphones into the mic jack and let them hang inconspicuously around your neck. Give that a shot, but practice recording before you actually try to make serious recordings. Mess around with recording levels and positioning the headphones and stuff. I hope you get your bastard coworkers back for whatever crap they've been giving you.

Wow your computer definetly doesn't suck. Hmmmmm...does it only have the noise from imported mp3's, or does everything (including imported cds) have noise? Have you tried downloading Sonicstage 1.5? Sounds like you have a software issue, maybe Sonicstage will work for you (or maybe even update whatever in openmg is messed up.)
-
Good to hear that you got it working; did you figure out what was wrong with it?
-
So you're saying that Sony's turbo thingie in headphones doesn't actually exist or do anything? Isn't that false marketing/lying?
-
Aidix, I had that problem too on my old computer. Do you know why it does that? I wouldn't think that changing the ouptut from the sound card to the USB port should slow it down as much as it does...
-
I don't think you can do that, I've tried and had no success.
-
Is there any way that I could obtain record samples of different speeds so I could judge how it sounds? I live in the US, and there is nowhere within at least 100 miles of here that I could go to try and check out an N10 after they come out.
-
Weird, maybe your computer sucks. Try reinstalling the software, that shouldn't happen. If that doesn't help, try downloading openMG or Sonicstage again, maybe you have faulty software.

My MZ-N707 is currently inoperable, and I really miss having NetMD. Is anyone selling any type of NetMD unit? I want to buy one for under $100. I'll probably just end up buying an MZ-N505 somewhere, but if anyone is willing to sell me something for cheaper than I could buy that or a better used unit for the price of a 505...yeah. Thanks for any responses!
-
Does that only happen on Chop Suey? Does the md recording sound funky or is it the actual playback file? I'm listening to the sond right now, and I'm not hearing anything unusual....
-
That shouldn't have anything to do with your md unit. A PC link like the one you have does one thing: instead of sending the audio signal to your speakers, it outputs it through the pc link's optical output instead. The computer has no idea what is being hooked onto the end of the optical output if anything at all, so a change in md unit should have no effect on your PC link. Something got changed in your computer somehow.
-
I don't think that would work because MOST md units don't have any type of digital output. If the md unit had a type of digital output, it would work. Dude that thing is cool! What's the purpose of the USB part of it? Where can you buy one, and how much?

Robotic and choppy...how bad? Is there any way that someone could record a sample of a song clip at normal tempo, then with some tempo changes? The tempo but not pitch changing would be a HUGE plus for me if it sound good...I play saxophone, and being abled to change the speed of play-along music would be very cool. (That won't work if the pitch is changed unless the change is a perfect octave...)
-
I think that is a good option if your PC doesn't "skip" while playing back audio. My old computer's playback was choppy and so a skip would make like 10 track marks. If you've got a good PC, go for it. What sound card do you have? If your sound card has an optical output, then you should use that and not a PC link. If it has a coaxial output, I recommend a coaxial>optical converter over the PC link because it is easier (no drivers and such.)

OK guys, face it, NetMD is cool, but here are really only two things that make it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less functional than is should be: software and no upload. Now we all know that uploading is a widely desired function, but I personally would rather have better software than uploading. What I mean is software that gets around track protection and check in/out limitations as well as a better on-the-PC playback method for atrac files. I hate the track protection, EVERYONE hates the transfer limitiations, and a better omg file player would own (like if winamp could play omg files it would make me sooooo happy, I'd stop using mp3 altogether!)
-
Although I do agree with you that it'd be a cool added function, why would you want to change the pitch? I don't want to make my music sound like it's being performed by Alvin and The Chipmunks while on speed...

Is it possible, yes. Look here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=96 Hope that helps a little.
