The battery life is still quite impressive, but I have no doubts that it'd only be like that if you were playing back 48kbps ATRAC3plus. I imagine 256kbps ATRAC3plus will net in 15-20 hours with the A3000? I've never really tested it out with my HD3, perhaps I should see what I average. Anyone ever test battery life with their ATRAC device?

Welcome to the forums, friend. Everything is fine -- just hook up your unit and no additional driver installation will be necessary.

How so? Well, 20gb and beyond is a pretty decent sized capacity. Most portable HDD music players have a line out, including the new "Walkman", which is an easy way to interact with top-end equipment.

I went ahead and took the survey and noted my concerns.. It's weird to not even see MD listed here: http://www.sony.com.au/walkman/category.jsp?id=21995

Perhaps this can help you. http://minidisc.org/manuals/sony/service/info/sony006209.pdf Use the information in the pdf above in combination with the R700 service manual and you should make some progress.

Welcome to the forums, gunblade. Cool avatar, and more importantly, Day of Defeat rocks..the HDR graphics, once enabled, are incredible. Back to business -- want a RH10? How about $219. http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/sc/from-fro...date=09_23_2005 Don't trust the retailer? No worries, because their reseller ratings are pretty good. I might have to buy one at this price.

Wow, nice lamewing. Did you get it from Amazon? Keep us informed of your impressions..

Apparently tomorrow there will be an announcement as to what direction MD is heading -- stay tuned.

richyu summed it up pretty well; SonicStage has never performed in a poor way for me for basic functionality and is usually quick upon loading music with my NH900 and NW-HD3.

Sony MD Walkman MZ-E7W Pictorial
Christopher replied to Ishiyoshi's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Thanks for your time, Ishii. It's absolutely mind boggling how you were able to obtain this incredibly rare unit and full set in such condition. Everything appears flawless, right down to the felt pouch. If this isn't the apex of your collection, I'm not really sure what is. I find myself returning to this pictorial just to drool throughout the day. Is that normal? What average range are you getting with the watch when trying to operate it? Isn't it line of sight? I haven't played with my E7W for a very long time. -
I'm not speaking of now -- I'm speaking of the future. CD's have been replaced by DVD's, and DVD's will get replaced by HDDVD or Blue Ray (Blue Ray computer drives will not be able to read CD's, btw), but what's after that? Flash will have matured at that point and we'll be employing that.
-
No offense, but this type of thought process is going to keep us in the technological "stone age" forever. How long do you expect disc-based mediums to last? Think about the concept of a disc revolving hundreds or even thousands of times to retrieve data -- how flawed is this method overall? It's simply not efficient in comparison to technologies such as flash, hence why we'll be seeing more hybrid flash + HDD storage units for computers and eventually music players before discs are completely obsolete.

Please state your system specs according to the rules.

Cool. Thanks for the link and welcome to the forums.

Damn, that's a nice price for the DH10P -- I'm sure this topic will help others searching for a good deal. If only they sold the Red model here in the States..

This topic is becoming redundant, let's continue here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=12318

I accidentally deleted the albums that were in Urban. My apologies to whomever had albums in there. I'll look into a spell checker, NH1.

Found this on BusinessWire. It's plausible to believe that if they are including ATRAC in the rotation that Sony is moving forward to more radical ideals such as bluetooth stereo headphones for it's digital audio players. Are we approaching an era when you can speak to your Sony device to turn it on, play back music or shuffle through tracks whilst listening through wireless headphones? It would be an interesting edge and give greater competition towards other companies. As always, ALC will keep an eye out on this one!

I'm not sure what happened, exactly. I believe the webmaster was editing something in the httpd.conf and didn't restart Apache. I did so this morning (6am EST) and things were back to normal.

I agree with this sentiment. Perhaps they're not comfortable yet with the stability software as well, and if Connect Player proves itself they'll ascend into higher densities (a hogwash theory ).

Expect an official announcement soon.

Well, it's hard to really see any change especially as it gets pulled out of more and more retail areas.

Update: Nothing was specifically mentioned at the Sony Group's Fiscal Year 2005 Corporate Strategy Meeting webcast on 9/30. Judging by the focus of the webcast, it was clear as to what Sony's immediate future will be, and I can honestly say I do not see MD in the equation. The 15 divisions of Sony that will be terminated are going to be revealed by Sony very soon. More information will come in this thread, as it arrives. It is becoming clear with the recent restructuring of Sony that the Minidisc format may soon become extinct. Hell, QUALIA's out the door, what's really stopping us from thinking MD isn't next? Even in Sony's Annual Report for 2005, which in every previous year has featured a MD unit mentioned positively or pictured in one form or another, cited: Reliable sources within Sony that have given me consistant and 100% accurate information in the past, recent documents that have been passed along my way, and the blantant obviousness of Sony's direction from not only the recent webcast along with their Annual Report for 2005 and other various public presentations have given a clear indication as to what's going to occur to the format. Right now there's a very slim chance that Hi-MD may even see a third generation, and if it were, it would probably be the definitive last. I'm not so sure anymore that the Connect Player will even support MD. There's something else on the horizon now, a unified approach. I can't say any more than this, but it will boil down to one of these scenarios, trust me: (I) Minidisc is no longer developed, focus on other products and introduce similar functionality. (II) Put a radical spin on MD (Video, DVR, etc) and see what happens. Regardless, fifteen years is a damn short product lifecycle. If they had played the market a little more efficently and not fallen into the deep hole that Sonicstage was, it would've been different. But alas, such is life, such is Sony.

The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack (remastered release in 2004), DJ Krush - Jaku, A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step (my original was scratched beyond comprehension), Drawing Restraint 9 soundtrack (very keen),

You can try the MDAC repair utility in the Downloads section, but I'm not so sure what that would accomplish. You may be better off backing up whatever you can and then reinstalling via the directions in the FAQ.
