    DUDE, I believe this is for tuning the laser power If you set it too high, it will burn out, if it's too low it will not see/recognize the disc Don't ever attempt to play with it without an oscilloscope :shock: Take a look at the service manual if you want...

  18. Yes All LP recording remain the same as Type-R units, it just plays better on a Type-S (Keep in mind Type-S units also have Type-R chip in it for SP recording!)
